Book Description

April 30, 1999
This is the only book written specifically for men who have been hurt by a personal abortion experience. It is based on research carried out by the author in which a program for post-abortion men was developed, tested, and found to be effective. The book focuses on specific problems which may be experienced by post-abortion men including anger, helplessness, guilt, relationship problems, and grief. The steps of the healing process are described in terms of each of these problems. While the book was written primarily for post-abortion men, their families, friends, and those who counsel them may also find it to be useful.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Men and Abortion scores an emotional touchdown for men! One of only two books ever written about men and abortion, this book is ground-breaking,based on research, and superbly written. Men emotionally injured by abortion? You bet, and there is plenty of evidence that for some it is enduring and traumatic. While it has long been known that abortion can be emotionally harmful for women, it is newsworthy that an entire book has been dedicated to helping men understand that their emotional pain following abortion is normal. The reader is gently guided by Dr. Coyle through the elusive steps of awareness and healing, with primary emphasis on forgiveness of self and others. Male and female readers will find much compassion and hope between these covers. On a topic that is so gender-biased, Coyle's contribution is sizable and compelling." -- Dr. Vincent Rue, Director of the Institute for Pregnancy Loss in Stratham, NH

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a book addressing a very important issue., January 15, 2000
This review is from: Men and Abortion: A Path to Healing (Paperback)
The issue of men and abortion is a rare topic of discussion. However, there are millions of men out there that are suffering from post-abortion emotions. This book is a breakthrough in addressing this ignored situation. I myself am a father of an aborted child. This book hit home before I even finished the first chapter. The only people that can truly understand the impact that abortion has on men are the men that have been through it. This book shares the testimonials of several men and how their lives have changed. A must read for anyone who has been through this unfortunate situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource in a much needed field., July 11, 1999

This review is from: Men and Abortion: A Path to Healing (Paperback)
This book addresses a subject that is rarely acknowledged and litle recognized--that of the grief of men after an abortion. This is a valuable book for the man looking to understand the many emotions he is feeling as he deals with his role in an abortion. AS an expert in the field of post-abortion healing, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to understand the wounds of abortion in men and to anyone trying to make sense of his feelings.

5.0 out of 5 stars more help than I had a right to expect, May 22, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is an excellent first step on the path of healing; that is the path of forgiveness. CT Coyle is an expert in the field of forgiveness therapy, and lays out a path to healing in these pages. It is still (nearly ten years after it was published) the best book I have found on the subject.
