5.0 out of 5 stars Kacey Jones CD Review, February 17, 2000
This review is from: Men Are Some of My Favorite People (Audio CD)
I have listened to this album over and over again and each time I laugh. In fact, I loved the album so much that I asked Kacey to be a guest on my television program that runs locally in Nashville, TN. Along with talking about her career, she performed a couple of the songs that are on this album. It is very hard to entertain an audience for an hour with just your songs and your personality and Kacey does it well. It's hard to pick out my favorites from this album but if I had to, I would chose the very clever, "A Woman's Mantra," the gritty, "Just To Torture Myself," and her top 10 hit, "I'm The One Mama Warned You About." The hilarious banter in between the songs captures the flavor of the live concert and makes me feel as if I am there. I hope she comes up with another album soon. I can't wait to hear some more material from this extremely talented lady.

5.0 out of 5 stars I want to marry this woman!, May 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Men Are Some of My Favorite People (Audio CD)
I bought this record because Kacey Jones produced the Kinky Friedman anthology Pearls in the Snow, and I was intrigued by the question of what kind of woman could put up with the Kinkyman long enough to have lunch with him, let alone actually work with him for a time sufficient to produce an album. I don't like chick singers. But if Kacey Jones' tunes are any indication of her inner self: humorous, intellectual and just plain beautiful, I'd like to be first in line to ask her for her hand. 1-900-BUBBA is the funniest song I've heard in a great while. This record should be heard a lot more than it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Men are Some of My Favorite People, March 1, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Men Are Some of My Favorite People (Audio CD)
Men are Some of My Favorite People is one of my favorite albums. Kacey Jones is a combination of Erma Bombeck and Ray Stevens, and how wonderful for all of us. I still laugh out loud at songs like "1-900-Bubba", and "Put the Seat Back Down". If you're lucky enough to see Kacey in person, you're in for a treat..if you can't see her in person, at least there are albums like "Men are Some of My Favorite People" that give you a glimpse of what this artist can really do...make us examine the "human factor" in relationships and love and laugh at ourselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars She's awesome, June 3, 1999

I've never heard the whole CD, but I HAVE heard "I'm not Bitter" and that song is like total girl-kicks-butt song, I LOVE IT! I'm not a huge country fan, but that's one song that I can handle. Esp, when your trying to get over an ex-boyfriend (believe me it helps!) "if you were here right now I'd rub your face in kitty litter..." yup, she rocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kacey Jones Hits Home, February 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Men Are Some of My Favorite People (Audio CD)
Singer-songwriter Kacey Jones hits the nail right on the thumb when it comes to musically describing the ever-so-frustrating elements of dealing with the male of the species. She is wickedly funny, with a great voice and super taste in musical accompaniment. While she gets in lots of clever jabs to the guys, she always manages to turn the song around with a little needling aimed at the fairer sex, proving that love-induced insanity is an equal opportunity adventure! This is such a fun album--the next best thing to seeing her live. In case you're wondering, men love her! Hey, any woman who can get macho backup singers to don purple boas must have something going for her!

if you love to laugh and enjoy great music at the same time, then this is the CD for you. Whether you're in a relationship, in between relationships or just getting out of one, these songs address all aspects of love and loss in a hilarious way. The lyrics are clever, the songs are catchy and Kacey Jones has a soulful, entertaining voice. Men are Some of My Favorite People is a winner

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny female chauvinist, February 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Men Are Some of My Favorite People (Audio CD)
I had the pleasure of seeing Kacey Jones in person, and this album completely captures her down to earth spirit and humor. This is one of the funniest albums I've heard in a long time. Her unique viewpoint and pointed lyrics are completely entertaining. As she says, she always redeems herself in the last verse. The album is part stand-up and part lyrical play on words. "But I'm Not Bitter" is a female revenge classic, and "Just to Torture Myself" has a bluesy woman scorned quality to it. Definitely worth a listen!
