This book reveals the scholarship of the men who did the translation work of the King James Bible and stands in stark contrast to the elementary level of modern day "scholars".

This book was originally published in 1959; my copy is from 1977. It is an excellent portrayal of the translators, the king, the printer and the peripheral players involved in bringing the King James Bible into existence. They were all educated at a level that likely exceeds any scholar of our day. Some of them were skilled in upward of 15 languages. In fact, several were so skilled it was said that they could think in these different languages. Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and Latin (and of course English) were second nature to most of them. There were high church translators and low church (Puritans) translators. There were Calvinists and Arminians. There were no Catholics or Unitarians on the translating team (a problem with Unitarians and atheists being on later translation teams resulted in most modern texts being corrupted). The chosen turned out an incredible work that was said to be above even their individual learned ability. While none of the players were perfect their dedication and care with regard to translating the Bible into English is nothing short of phenomenal. I recommend this book and Which Version is the Bible? by Floyd Nolen Jones.

I am so glad that I purchased this product when I did; the product,itself, was in excellent shape and the packaging was "top shelf!" But, most of all, the price was very reasonable, reasonable indeed.
Later on, around the 22nd of Novemebr (e.g. just four "4" days after receiving this product) I went back to Amazon to re-check the list price of three(3)other of the same product titled books, listed by other owners! To my AMAZEMENT the "other" owners of each book had re-adjusted each of their prices to a whopping 100% (i.e. from 17.95 to $35.95); 200% (i.e. form 17.50 to $52.50); 400% (i.e. from 16.95 to $84.75. Talk about "free-market" price gouging! What a shame! But "thanks" again per this purchased product!
