"David : Seeking God Faithfully" is another installment in the Men of Character Series by Dr. Gene Getz. This book on David covers his entire life from the time he was a little shepherd boy to the time when he was well into his reign as the king of a united Israel.

The book contains around 180 pages and 13 chapters, some of which are entitled:

1. An Unforgettable Contrast
2. A Battle We Can Win
3. The Bible Tells It Like It Is
4. Moving From Fear to Faith
5. A Man Who Loved His Enemy
6. David's Wounded Ego
7. David's Tragic Moral Failure
8. David's Life in Perspective

Getz covers all aspects of David's life, including victories (defeated Goliath, succeeded Saul as king, won many military battles, recaptured the Ark of the Covenant, etc.) and mistakes (sin with Bathsheba, problems with his own children, ordered a foolish census, etc.).

A good sobering read of a man who was after God's own heart and yet committed terrible sins, the book serves as a warning to fall into the same mess that David found himself in. The book also encourages the reader to be godly and to stay close to God throughout life.

Highly recommended!

I am working my way through this series and just finished this book and the one on Joshua. The text is great for laymen who need to brush up on basic bible stories and events that we've heard since early days in Sunday School but have forgotten over time. It is great for day-to-day application. Getz does a great job of illustrating the meaning behind the stories. I am reading Elijah now and recommend it as well.

Gene Getz has written this series on Men of Character & David is one of them--This is Great Book. He asks some serious questions to help the Reader better understand David & how he maintained God's description of him--a Man after God's own heart!!!!! I highly recommend David to anyone having difficulties in his own life & see how God can still love & forgive him as He did David.

This is a great book of David. It brings out David's worship, his failures, and his repentance. We all can learn from David.
