While the main topic is how men have been taught to suppress emotions and eventually run from their own feelings, the author also delves into the differences between men and women in thought and purpose. He has taken what he has personally lived and witnessed and poured it all out for the benefit of others. This book is not based on research, it is based on life. The research he uses supports what he has already discovered to be true. Misner's desire is to help people, not to toot his own horn or flaunt his accomplishments. He has an easy-going, conversational style and talks to the reader out of deep personal conviction.

My problem over the years of trying to understand men and why they don't hear what I am saying was finally explained in the book. One big mistake I was making was to think men felt the same as women. I should have listened to my own inner voice telling me that "he" is avoiding emotions. In trying to control everything around him he has suppressed not only the bad but the good emotions. With the authors help I now know what I must do to break down the barriers to have a close relationship with a man.

I feel this is a must book for both men and women but even more so for women to read. Women have an easier time expressing their feelings and needs and I feel this book will help them understand men better and give them the tools to help draw out the man in their life if they are having any problems communicating. I am presently going through a divorce after a very long marriage and I know if I would have read this book several years ago maybe I could have saved my marriage by knowing more about how my husband was thinking and not giving up because I could not get through to him and us growing apart. The book was written from the personal experiences of the author which makes it even more useful and practical information to learn and hopefully helps the reader not make the same mistakes in their lives. I know I have learned some valuable insight into a man's mind in reading this book that will hopefully help me in any future relationships I am lucky enough to have. Thank you Wayne for sharing your life with the rest of us in an effort to help us avoid the mistakes you made in your journey through life!
