5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo, Ms. Burnett!
Men, movies, and Carol has got to be the finest entertainment I have enjoyed in years! It is fresh, witty, and displays great range. It has everything from parodies, great dance numbers, and wonderful music. It is better than anything I have seen on broadway. It was great to see Burnett doing what she does best. An artist and a true genius, she excells in all mediums...

An artist and a true genius, she excells in all mediums displayed. They don't write comedy like this anymore! And Burnett knows how to pick the right males to accompany her. My favorite parodies were: The Graduate and Remains of the Day. Barry Bostwick is sexy and debonair, and Scott Bakula shows a flair for comedy - a pleasant surprise!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wholesome Entertainment, May 14, 2004

This has to be one of the best variety hours since the golden years of television.

This program featured parodies of renouned films like The Graduate and every one of Carol's guests shone in their numbers. It was great entertainment and I'd love to see more. Just as there is a place for MTV, there is also a place for this kind of variety entertainment.

Probably the best skit was between Carol and Barry Bostwick in which they played a butler and a maid having an afternoon liason. The dialog was so cleaver that adults would get it and children would wonder what the adults were laughing at. Very steamy without a piece of clothing removed or an off color word.

Another great one was the classic film noir story with Scott Bakula that was done in black and white. Every bit as memorable as the take-off the Carol Burnett Show did of "Gone with the Wind."

Her guest stars, Scott Bakula, Barry Bostwick and Michael Jeter (recently passed away with HIV/AIDS) who sing and dance and join Carol Burnett in several comedy sketches. The comedy sketches have do to with Broadway and classic motion pictures. Tony Bennett also guest stars and offers his fine Italian vocal talent. Tony and Carol do a duet.
It is always nice to see a Carol Burnett special.

3.0 out of 5 stars Men,Movies and Carol, March 23, 2000

Certainly not one of Ms. Burnett's shining hours on television, this special made me realize how old fashioned sketch comedy seems in today's rapid fire, "joke" heavy sitcoms. Sadly, character driven, revue material seems to have gone the way of The Ford Pinto. Unfortunately, that is the type of comedy Carol is best known. While she can still get big laughs with her impeccable turn of phrase or one of those classic takes, the sketches were thin. Her troupe of gentleman guest stars pefomed dutifully and proved to be quite deft with this silly stuff. Nicest moment was Burnett and guest Tony Bennett's cozy duet. An utterly nonsensical "musical" finale was the final straw for someone who prefers Burnett with material better suited to her genius. Surely, some of Burnett's old writers must have cringed, uttering "You cant go home again."
