We've been working on, reading about and teaching relationship building for a number of years. The differences between the internal "wiring" in women and men has been well researched and reported. But most of the reportage is observation without the context of the emotional makeup of the gender.

The Feldhams do a good job of connecting the dots. For example, noting that women do talk more than men but showing that the variety of the emotional and thought landscape provide more to talk about. As well, women process externally, with others, while men do so internally and more slowly, often taking days to work through a situation. These and many more insights make the "Only" books a treasure.

Very importantly, the book(s) are value neutral, not presenting either gender as superior. In all, well done!

This is an excellent book, very insightful. EVERY man should read it!! It's a book that women wish their men would read. Buy the book and discussion guide for your husband, your father, your son, your brother, your uncle, your nephew, your neighbor!

Let me start this review with an acknowledgement that my comments about men and women are generalizations and if this bothers you stop reading now and go on to another review. I meant to order the companion book For Women Only (because I defiantly need help understanding you guys), but inadvertently ordered this book. Like other reviewers said, the series are an easy afternoon read, but packed full of little gold nuggets of how women (American women) experience the world. We need continued assurance that you guys would choose us all over again, men fall in love (and stay in love?) with their eyes and we fall in love with our ears....how you speak and what you say (or don't say) about us is how we see ourselves, if we perceive there is a problem in the relationship we cannot "compartmentalize" the problem to a remote corner of our mind and deal with it at a better time, and our thoughts are like a computer with multiple windows open, jumping back and forth between tabs, we do not do this to irritate the men in our lives, it just how we are wired. Thank you for a book that helped me see that I am not crazy and insecure (as a matter of fact I am a college graduate, single mother running my own company and consider myself more independent than most of my girlfriends) woman, but pretty much par for the course.......

This book was such an eye opener for me that I reread parts of it over and over and keep it as the ultimate reference manual. If you are married, going to get married, have a partner or or are just friends with a woman this book is a MUST READ!

I have purchases five of these books and ten of the For Women only books to give away to couples who are going through tough times in their marriage or dating time. The unusual insight and help that Shaunty provides is unlike any other marriage/relationship book that I have purchased over the years, and I have around forty in my library. She deals with the varied issues with sensitivity, good research and hard facts that cannot be refuted in my years of counseling experience. I highly recommend this book to all who want to better understand the men in their lives.
