Mind-blowing Aha Realization... Men are Mythic,

This review is from: Men, Power and Myths (Hardcover)
Guggenbuhl finally crystallizes for me a growing theory that I was not quite able to un-pack. I have been working with mythic archetypes and Jungian archetypal psychology for a while now. I have also been trying to consider the anima / animus (feminine / masculine) and how it plays out in gender. Guggenbuhl presents the feminine / women as psychologizing / relationship-oriented (how is it meaningful to me personally) in contrast to the masculine / men as mythologizing (how is this relevant to a mythic perspective). The potential conflict that arises when men and women are in dialogue but both are speaking from these different spheres is the "Aha" moment for me. I haven't finished reading it yet, but I hope he takes it beyond gender and considers this polarity within each individual (anima / animus). Even if he doesn't, there is much to gain from this book.
