4.0 out of 5 stars Great Introductory Material -- An Encouragement
During this time period where many non-Christians believe thatscience has few roots in Christian belief, this is the book to read for introductory purposes. As the book moves through several names and backgrounds, one discovers the truth that, in fact, many scientists and mathematicians -- even founders of some important scientific fields -- were actually Christian...

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth wasting trees for
The late Henry Morris, a creationist with no background in biology or history (his degree is in hydraulic engineering), levels false implications of evolution with evils (or Morris's preceived evils). This book is nothing more than a thinly veiled attack on the science of evolutionary biology using long dead mens' faith as some kind of attempt to place Christianity on a...

This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
During this time period where many non-Christians believe thatscience has few roots in Christian belief, this is the book to read for introductory purposes. As the book moves through several names and backgrounds, one discovers the truth that, in fact, many scientists and mathematicians -- even founders of some important scientific fields -- were actually Christian believers. The mask is unveiled, and is entertaining, interesting, and encouraging for Christians and even non-Christians.

However, for those who actually want in-depth studies of the minds of people like Francis Bacon, Isaac Newton and Jonathan Edwards, please look elsewhere. These people are amazing Christian men that did not get justice by just a page to their name and testimonies. I felt disappointed with the lack of depth. I guess the depth was traded with one of the high points of the book -- an amazing, broad list of highly influential scientists that did not or would not believe in evolution, and things to know about them.

Therefore, I think the purpose of the book was mostly to take aim and fire into the argument that evolution has been supported (and will always be) by the more educated and influential scientists. This is a great book to take care of that argument and throw it in the trash, truly. This also is a good read for the day (the book is quite short)... however, it is not a must read, especially if you're a college student looking for much detail to memorize and retain.

This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
This is a great book for those interested in scientists who believed in God. While no part of this book is in depth it is a good starting point for children doing research or who want more of a compilation of scientists and their contributions. Overall I think this book is a very effective book for the younger generation or for someone who just wants to read some quick facts about Christian scientists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Little Book, May 6, 2006
This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
Some qualifications for opining to start. I have read this book and I am a public school teacher with 9 years of teaching elementary school. I have a BA in Psychology and a M Ed.

This is a great little book. It is important that we understand the beliefs of the scientists as well as their backgrounds. Contrary to popular opinion, scientists aren't devoid of beliefs and everyone's beliefs influence their perspectives. This can be readily seen by perusing these reviews. Our beliefs also determine our actions which makes being certain of their veracity all the more important as they will dictate the course of our lives and our destiny.

These scientists stand head and shoulders above many of their peers. It is important for all of us to understand what they believed and why they chose those beliefs.

I highly recommend this book and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did, and do every time I read it. It is a short, interesting, and fun read. Bon appetit!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for late elementary and early middle school, January 7, 2006
This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
This is a good book if you want "just the facts". If you're searching for intimate details about the lives of these scientists or discussions about parallel universes, then this isn't the reading selection. Yes, written from a decidedly christian viewpoint ...so, what's the problem? If you are afraid or refuse to give God credit for creating the universe, then, again, this is not the selection for you. I like this author and publisher because we can present God and science to our children and not treat them as mutually exclusive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enlightening, August 3, 2008
This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
I found this book very interesting and encouraging--these are the fathers of science--the men who pioneered our scientific method and thought. It was encouraging to see them as recognizing the role of God in themselves and their work.

5.0 out of 5 stars fascinating, little-known information!, November 12, 2006
This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
Wonderful, fascinating, little-known information lies in this book! Evolutionists would have society think religion (and Christianity specifically) has only ever hindered science, yet this book shows that the best founders of our modern scientific disciplines were motivated to explore the world explicitly because of their faith in God.

These men were not Christian out of the cultural norms of their respective societies, these men sincerely had a zealous faith that far exceeded their peers in their day.

This books forever terminates the image of anti-scientific, Christian knuckle-draggers; a must-read.

This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
This is a book about around 106 famous scientists who lived from 1452-1979 and believed the Bible to be true. The book is 108 pages long. It has about 20 black and white pictures and a colored cover. The scientists are arranged by relative time period. The major scientific accomplishments and details about their belief in the Bible are summarized in 1-4 paragraphs a piece. There is an introduction and conclusion chapter. I think this is a great book for anyone interested in science, biographies of Christian people, or wants to prove that science and Christianity are compatible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource, June 1, 2011
This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
A very good short book with lists of men who made an impact in the scientific world and were Bible believing Christians (mostly creationists). It includes such men as Isaac Newton, Louis Pasteur, Blase Paschal, Richard Owen, James Joule, Michael Faraday, Francis Bacon, Robert Boyle, George Washington Carver, and many, many more. Each man has a few paragraphs that explain his contribution to the sciences and his belief in God, Christ and/or creation. The author makes it plain that this book is not intended to be an all inclusive list, but only touches the tip of the iceberg, so to speak.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for home schooling, December 28, 2008

This review is from: Men of Science, Men of God: Great Scientists Who Believed the Bible (Paperback)
This book is of great use! We are using it to learn about different people who have contributed to our society. Each person has a short summary of their lives, no more than two pages a person. But there are interesting facts about each. Beware though I'm having to simplify each page for my son so it will also serve well for his coming years in school.
