A book on the effects of a wife's menopause on her husband from a man's point of view is a great idea given that virtually everything written about menopause is from a woman's point of view. Men need guidance that does not attempt to be politically correct, touchy-feely and overly patronizing to the woman. Many of the books for women on menopause provide the support women need without giving a thought to those who live with her and also need support. A man's book on menopause needs to describe the physical, emotional and mental effects menopause has on a woman and how that looks to the husband so he can recognize and deal with how menopause will affect him. Then, the man needs guidance on how to help his wife and how he can survive her ups and downs by having a realistic understanding. The writer of this book tells us that menopause probably ended his last marriage and is having an effect on his current, unmarried but live-in relationship. In short, his credentials are suspect. He uses profanity that is unnecessary and does not provide the guidance that is necessary. I would not buy the book again.

The bulk of this book contains facts about the physical process of menopause that can easily be found elsewhere. The advice to men dealing with a menopausal spouse is miniscule and simplistic. If you're looking for an enlightening book for your husband this is not it.
