"Men on Top of The Charts" are Men on Top of Their Game,

This review is from: Men On Top Of The Charts (Audio CD)
For those dark stormy nights, when you are feeling exceedingly unlucky in love, with not a place in the world you need to be, slip this one into the cd player, and just listen. If you stumbled on this looking for a nice, inexpensive cut of Mrs. Jones, one of those all-time greatest naughty soul pleasures like Luther Ingram's "I Don't Want to Be Right" or James Carr's "The Dark End of the Street," you might be surprised to find out that your favorite tune off this album won't be what you came for- but an old, under-appreciated seventies classic: Mason's "We Just Disagree."If you're looking for a surprising blend of almost classic rock with a heavy seasoning of the blues, "Disagree" is it. It is a soulful lament to lost love, complete with stirring lyrics that are REAL. None of this flowery talk about forever and always, and soulmates. Mason's song is so memorable because it speaks to you- a thousand words you may have said or heard yourself at any time. The music is unexpected and to put it simply, the entire three and a half minutes just flows. The most memorable tracks are We Just Disagree, Ain't No Sunshine, and of course, Mrs. Jones. The rest of the tracks are somewhat bland and cliched, but trust me, this trio of ballads are enough to justify purchasing this cd, if you're looking for a reason. Happy listening! |
