5.0 out of 5 stars The organ works, December 24, 2008
This review is from: The Mendelssohn Companion (Hardcover)
The chapter on the organ works of Felix Mendelssohn is probably the finest article in print on the subject. Every organist interested in a serious study of the organ sonatas of Mendelssohn needs to read this article. It gives a brief history of why organ music went into decline after J.S. Bach, and how Mendelssohn's organ sonatas are unique products of the early 19th century organ literature.
