... Opus 49, which they performed here at Yale. Their concert was the highlight of our concert-going season that year. I have kept an eye out for their new releases since. They are consummate musicians. But, most pleasurable, is their very evident enthusiasm for the music they are performing. I have only heard the samples on this release as I have just ordered it. I will write again if it does not live up to my expectations, but I am sure that will not be necessary. I do have one of their earlier releases and it is wonderful!

It is really impossible to pick out one of the three as being in any way above his/her peers. That said, I was extremely impressed with the pianist, perhaps because I am more familiar with that instrument and know how difficult it is to reach the level of mastery and musical communication that Jan displays. If you ever have a chance to see them perform, RUN for tickets! I am keenly looking forward to hearing how they develop over the coming years as well.

In one word, this recording is outstanding! I recently heard a live performance by this group and I was very impressed indeed. That performance led me to this recording.

The sound is very rich, and each of three instruments has its time to shine, and shine they do. They shine in the sense of expressiveness, not to show-off. These Mendelssohn Trios are meant to sing and wow, does this Trio sing! Their ensemble playing is phenomenal, and they really put themselves -- and each other -- into the music. The sense of unity is remarkable. All three are remarkable musicians.

To set a scale for these musicians, I much prefer their performance of these Mendelssohn trios to that of the Kalichstein Laredo Robinson Trio, already a high standard.

Note: The "Trio Con Brio Copenhagen" is not the same as "Trio Con Brio". This review only refers with the former.
