Book Description

November 1, 1999
The first--and only--book of meditations on how to survive a breakup, without breaking down.

"What we call the beginning is often the end/And to make an end is to make a beginning."--T.S. Eliot

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable."--Helen Keller

With one-hundred life-affirming, love-affirming meditations, this book addresses the issues and emotions that accompany the loss of a love. Readers will learn that there are no wrong feelings or responses to their grief, but there are ways to overcome the obstacles in their paths--and grow from them. Inspiring and uplifting, the meditations serve as comforting guideposts throughout the journey from pain to a new beginning.

* There is no other book of meditations on the subject of breaking up
* The one hundred meditations offer hope and guidance to anybody who has been through a difficult and painful breakup or divorce

This review is from: Mending Broken Hearts (Paperback)
Just when I was at the depths of despair...a friend introduced me to this extraordinary book.

I never thought that a book could inspire me. Mending Broken Hearts has done just that--INSPIRED ME. Inspired me to survive... to feel my emotions... to hope and dream again.

It is not a cure-all, but Mending Broken Hearts will give anyone, going through heartbreak, the tools to work day-by-day through their anxieties and fears.

Thank you Adele Wilcox for this wonderful resource. It is truly a work of the heart!

5.0 out of 5 stars From Heartbroken to Heartwhole, December 12, 1999
This review is from: Mending Broken Hearts (Paperback)
Mending Broken Hearts helps you do exactly what the title promises.

The meditations contained in this book helped me face the wide variety of topics that surfaced after facing a personal loss.

Ms. Wilcox has combined personal experiences with insight and common sense in addressing everything from sex to self esteem.

Her book made me realize that I am not alone on this path of healing and that through understanding, patience and a little laughter, the healing does take place.

"Affirmations" was a particularily helpful meditation for me. It begins, as all the meditations do with a quote, "You have been criticizing yourself for years and it has not worked. Try approving yourself and see what happens" (Louise Hay, from "You Can Heal YOurself). Ms Wilcox then explains how important affirmations are in life and how to make them work. The meditation ends, as they all do, with an affirmation that can be used each day. I have tried to incorporate these affirmations in my day to day life and find that that make a huge and positive difference!

Regardless of the reason for your broken heart, I believe these meditations will help you address those problems and issues that feel uniquely yours but are shared by all of us as we make this journey.
