Mendocino Medicine Man, June 16, 2006
This review is from: Mendocino Medicine Man: A Novel (Paperback)
This is a compelling, haunting novel of great depth and beauty. Through the wonderful storytelling of Carol Tillotson, we are taken into the Yolla Bolly Wilderness in northern California, where three, young, married couples decide to take their summer vacation. Fill with dreams of high adventure, they leave their familiar world behind and enter a remote, new enviroment, fraught with imaginable dangers. Their trek through the forrested mountains brings them into contact with terrifying drug traffickers and an Indian tribe with incredible powers. In this primitive setting, far removed from the laws of civilization, the travelers soon discover that most people, including themselves, tend to revert to the most basic of instincts. Confronted by the darker side of human nature, they learn a great deal about themselves and love. Never again will any of them be quite the same person as before, their lives forever changed by events beyond their control!
