Once diagnosed with Meniere's, I began the search for information. Much is out there, but nothing was as informative as this book. The author gives you everything you could possibly want or need to know. It is very helpful in validating the more 'minor' Meniere's symptoms your physician may not have explained to you as being due to this disease. It will also give you options that range from traditional to holistic treatments. Should you reach the surgical level, this book diagrams and explains the options, risks, and outcomes to result in an informed decision. I was on the fast-track to surgery, but after reading the book, I found the drug betahistine mentioned. I discussed this with my specialist, and he consented in giving it a try. While this drug therepy dosen't work for everyone, it gave me my life back. Might I have found this therapy in another book? Maybe...but I didn't.

This is the first book written and published for the public in the United States on Menieres disease. The book is a must read for not only those with Menieres disease but anyone who would like to learn more about living with chronic dizziness or balance problems. The book is a great resource. It helped me to understand how the ear functions with many clear descriptions and excellent diagrams. I learned about vestibular testing and various treatments that are being offered at this time. The book is packed full of easy to understand material and it has enabled me to become more informed about the inner ear and the vestibular system. The author should be congratulated for writing this book as the topic has been ignored far to long by the public and the medical community.

I've had Meniere's Disease for 20+ years and while my doctor and the internet helped me find information, I still felt ignorant. This book changed all that: I can't think of anything anyone would need to know about Meniere's that isn't covered in this book. There's also an excellent appendix of further refernces. The more I learn, the better I can cope.

This book is very well written and organized. It covers Meniere's in great detail and has references you can turn to for further information. I found the exhaustive list of symptoms and the explantions of their causes particularly helpful. If you have Meniere's or treat patients with the disease, you should have this book. (I work for medical book publishers, so I don't hand out praise lightly.)

It's so refreshing to read a book about this disease without being scared to death each time you learn something new about the disease. It was also a relief to know that my grumpiness was common to, I thought it was me! Brilliant book, well written and informative without being shocking, and positive without being overly optimistic. This book is an excellent source of information--not only on Meniere's Disease, but on other vestibular (dizziness/balance) disorders as well. Highly recommened for anyone wanting to understand such conditions better and to learn about possible treatments. Has many good references, too.

This book was such a blessing in my life. I read it over and over when I first got it. So much of the information I was already experiencing but didnt' know why. I learned more from this book and my online support group than from any doctor.

This book is the most complete compilation of information on Meniere's Disease that I have come across in 24 years! It is easy-to-read and answers so many of the questions that arise concerning this disease. Anyone who has Meniere's Disease should read this book!

Good intentions prevail throughout this book; good high level advice on coping is shared. But it's a dated book. Vertigo can be stopped in 85%~90% of cases by taking Valtrex 1000mg or Zovirex 800mg three times a day for 4~6 weeks. These drugs are not even mentioned in this older book and could lead many a reader to consider drastic irreversible surgical management.
