A Nice Lens Hood - A Very Low Price,
By Alan Houston "alanhouston-texas" (Houston, Texas, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mennon DC-s 58 Screw Mount 58mm Flower Lens Hood, Black (Electronics)
This 58mm threaded Tulip lens hood is sold under a variety of names on Amazon.com by many different vendors. It is designed to screw onto the 58mm filter threads of a lens that does NOT rotate when you focus the camera. It is designed to work with lenses that are about 35mm or 40mm wide, or longer. If you use it with a wider 24mm or 28mm lens, you are likely to see a bit of the hood in the corners of your photos.
It is designed for a camera with 58mm lens threads that do NOT rotate when you focus. If the lens threads rotate when you focus, you not use this type of hood. The hood WILL cast a shadow on your flash photos, so rotate it so a small petal is a 12 o'clock for flash pictures. Screwing the hood onto your filter threads, aligning the hood, and rotating the locking wheel takes several minutes. I intend to leave the hood on my lens permanently, so I won't be need to invest that time again. My 58mm lens cap snaps securely into the throat of the hood.

Works just as anyone would expect it to. As a function of the smaller less expensive lenses (not the hood), focusing will rotate the hood.

Good lens hood!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mennon DC-s 58 Screw Mount 58mm Flower Lens Hood, Black (Electronics)
I use this lens hood on my Canon SX20IS with an adapter which I bought so I could use lens filters. It does what it is supposed to! It screws on easily. The only problem I have found is that sometimes the locking ring will cross thread. This is probably my fault for tightening the locking ring against the filter adapter to tight! It's easy to correct by just screwing it towards the lens hood, it's only plastic so it pops right back into place. This only happens during install and not every time. I don't find it to be a hassle for the money I paid for this item! Like I said above it does what it's supposed to and I haven't had any vignetting. If I lost or broke it I would buy another!
