5.0 out of 5 stars Works With HTC Sensation
Works as advertised but does not come with instructions. At first I did not realize that the adapter REQUIRES external power. There is a female micro-USB port on the side of the adapter to plug your phone's charging cable into. It wasn't until I read another reviewer's comments here that I realized my mistake. Duh!

3.0 out of 5 stars Works Samsung GS2 T-Mobile outputs only 720p though
Initially I had some hiccups...finally managed to make it to work

If you are facing issues:Try these
Connect and reconnect all the cables.
Reboot ur phone.
Make sure the volume of your phone is not on mute.

I hooked it up with my 28" monitor.(1920x1200 resolution)
But the output resolution is 720p even when I am playing 1080p...

So there are 4 connections required:

2) Phone charging cable's micro-USB male to adapter's micro-USB female (the adapter's power source)
3) Standard HDMI cable male to adapter's HDMI female
4) Other male end of standard HDMI cable to HDMI equipped display or TV

This review is from: Menotek Micro USB to HDMI MHL Adapter IMPROVED WITH RCP (Remote Control Protocol) for Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Evo 4G Tablet, HTC Sensation 4G, Sprint Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy Nexus (Electronics)
Like others who purchased this product, I am using it with my Samsung Galaxy S2 (a Sprint Epic 4G Touch). Initially I couldn't get it to work, but that's because I missed the female micro USB port on the side. I had ignorantly thought the TV would power the phone via HDMI but, whether the phone requires charging or not, the adapter has to be connected to a power source via a micro USB charging cable. I plugged the other end of my charging cable into a USB port on the side of my Samsung LN55C630. It is somewhat awkward connecting this charging cable as it T bones the adapter. I think a better design would have allowed all connected cables to be parallel with one another.

The phone's Android interface looks so-so on my TV and I'm guessing its because the phone is at 800x480 resolution while the TV resolution is much higher. There was also a bit of overscan as some of the notification icons at the top of the Android display were somewhat cropped. A higher resolution video played by the standard Android video player looked fine however, and it looked like it was playing at its native resolution. I think there was still some overscan though.

I've given this item 4 stars because it transmits a faithful representation of my phone's display to my HDTV at a reasonable price. I would have given it a fifth star if there was no overscan and if the connectors allowed the attached cables to be parallel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works the way it is supposed to, August 22, 2011
This review is from: Menotek Micro USB to HDMI MHL Adapter IMPROVED WITH RCP (Remote Control Protocol) for Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Evo 4G Tablet, HTC Sensation 4G, Sprint Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy Nexus (Electronics)
I love this adapter. I plugged it into my HTC Evo and also my brother's Galaxy S2 phone and got both the show up on my TV. I love this because I have so many video and pictures of my family that I can share with people more easily than putting them on my laptop and showing them. All I did was plug in the micro usb part of the adapter into my phone and then I plugged in the Micro USB charging cable into the adapter. I bought the 6FT hdmi cable from Menotek also. Works great. I get an amazing picture quality and am very pleased. This adapter did not work without the micro usb charging cable connected to it, but I found out this is not the fault of the adapter from Menotek. This is how all of the MHL adapters work. I would definitely recomend this adapter to anyone who has a phone that supports MHL.

I have a T-Mobile HTC Sensation and I wanted to be able to view my phone's screen on my TV via HDMI. This does exactly that. It shows you the exact same screen you have on your phone, on your TV. The setup couldn't be easier, just plug everything in, and it instantly shows up. Zero problems setting it up. The only "problem" I had was moving from screen to screen on the home screens. When it updated something like email, the screen "shook" a little, but righted itself immediately.
When you rotate the screen from portrait to landscape, the TV shows the new view, which is much, much better. It takes up the entire screen rather than if you have the phone in portrait, which is the way my HTC Sensation is forced to start on the home screen. The landscape view is awesome, it takes up the entire TV screen; movies look awesome, tv via web looks awesome, web pages, games. This thing is pretty cool.
What I had really bought this for though, I just don't know that I can do. It is no fault of this device, but I travel a fair amount, and I was hoping to be able to travel with a bluetooth keyboard, and this device, be able to plug this into a projector for presentations, which it can totally do (as long as it has HDMI), and be able to plug it into a TV in my room, where I can surf, watch movies, check emails on a larger screen. I want to do all this without a laptop or a tablet. This adapter allows me to do that, but using the word processor on the phone, and viewing it through the TV, just isn't the same as a laptop.
It's so nice to travel without a bag though. I've decided, on day, or 2 day trips, skip the laptop and bring this. It's awesome. I use it for presentations and to plug into the in my hotel TV to watch movies I've bought. If I need to put together a long email, I can use the bluetooth keyboard (which doesn't make the trip a lot of the time) or I can use the computer at the hotel.
I keep searching for ways to replace my laptop, but we'll see if we're ever able to replace it...

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE!, September 30, 2011

If you have a phone that supports the MHL get this adaptor! I like others have the Samsung Galaxy S II (Sprint) and plugged this into the phone with power and can now stream netflix from my phone to ANY tv/screen that has hdmi. It's awesome! I got the adaptor because I thought it might be kinda cool to have here and there but honestly it goes in my backpack everywhere I go now and a smaller hdmi cable.

Chose to get this over the Samsung OEM one. So far I am very pleased.

I did note however (might just be me) that you have to plug it in a certain way. I first plugged the adaptor into the phone and then the power then hdmi cable... tv saw nothing..

Unplugged everything. Plugged power into adaptor, then hdmi cable, then last plugged into bottom of phone. Display came right up on the screen. Again this could be a fluke but everytime I do it this way it works, where if I do it the other way it doesn't. Not a big deal to me at all.

Product works perfect with my Evo 3d. Most MHL adapters were in the 25 to 40 dollar range. I saw this one much cheaper and thought what the hell, i'll take a chance. Works perfect and saved a few bucks. Would definitely recommend!

So I bought this for my Samsung Galaxy S2 because I wanted to see pictures and videos that I take of my kids on our TV in the living room, I placed the order and it arrived very quickly (considering I've got an APO address). However when I plugged it in it didn't work and I was a bit disappointed because it's troublesome for us to send stuff back. But after getting an e-mail from the vendor (Elmenos) I was given some troubleshooting tips to try out and after trying everything it still didn't work, so the vendor sent me a replacement which arrived unexpectedly. I plugged it in and it worked perfectly, it seems that I had just gotten either a bad part or perhaps it got damaged during shipment either way I am glad that it works. I'd also like to say that it was pretty darn cool for the vendor to follow thru by sending a replacement, that shows integrity.

So all in all the product works great, just remember to plug the charging cable on the side of the adapter to provide enough power for it to work.

I originally bought the HTC adapter for $40 at radio shack and was very disappointed. It only sometimes worked on my dad's tv and that was if I didn't move the phone at all and kept it vertical. It didn't work at all on my Visio at home. I returned it and bought this one for about half the price, and it works great! I had to figure out a specific order in which to connect everything which I have explained in detail below if anyone else is having trouble.

I have a sensation 4g and the instructions that came with the adapter may work on the other compatible phones, but if you have a Sensation do the folllowing exactly, and in order:

**First, turn off your hdtv (recommended), or at least change inputs to another port or source before beginning. (It is always recommended you turn off all components when connecting and disconnecting components to your HDTV with hdmi cables.)

Then make the hdmi cable connnections. Doesn't matter which order, tv to MHL adapter, or MHL adapter to tv.
Next make the connection to the phone. You shouldn't see anything happen on your phone yet.
**(The manual says you don't need an external power source for the adapter to work, but that is not the case with the sensation.)
Next plug your charging cable into the wall first, then the MHL adapter. You should see hdmi connection made on your phone.

Now that your connections are made, turn on your tv and/or set the input to your hdmi port that is plugged into the adaptor. On your phone, your hdmi connection may disconnect for a few seconds. This is normal while the tv tries to receive the signal.

Soon you should see your phone's home screen, on your tv! You are then ready to navigate with your phone to find pics, videos, angry birds, anything you want to be displayed on your HDTV. Mine skips a little as I page through the home pages, which I think is fine. My videos and pics looks and sound great! Make sure your media volume is up if your having problems hearing it.
Auto rotate works well for the 16:9 ratio.
I use a little phone stand I bought from think geek for about $2 that holds my phone for me and helps keep everything neat.
Enjoy!! This works great every time for me!
Rob
