I have been in search of a good sports brief for years. It started about 10 years ago when I got a coolmax brief that I really liked, but couldn't find more of. I've bought or ordered several different ones from different companies and been anywhere from displeased to downright upset with what I've gotten. Over the last few years, I had to settle for the Champion brief because it was the only thing close to what I needed, even though I don't like the mesh material in the front. All this because I wear a sports brief instead of underwear for all athletic activities.

I recently purchased this one because 1) the material felt good; 2) Brooks makes a quality product; 3) I needed one in black; and 4) I am tired of the Champion briefs being variable in quality. Some are fine while others are shoddy. Anyway, even though I had some initial concerns about sizing (Brooks like all running clothing manufacturers) doesn't make anything real big. But these briefs fit, and if anything, are a quarter of a size too big.

As long as you get your size, I doubt you will have trouble with the bands losing their elasticity. The fabric is both comfortable and functional -- i.e. it wisks well. There is a mesh type material in the front that's different from the rest of the brief, but unlike Champion's, it actually works well. For the single brief, it is a tad pricy, but the double pack gives you two for about what Champions cost, and these are much better.
