Great Product!,

I ordered this jacket and it showed up on the first day that amazon said it would (less than a week). I love the material! It's not thin like a wind breaker, or stiff and crackly like a Columbia shell, or thick and stiff like a PVC raincoat. It's a soft, flexible and durable looking rubber that holds a good shape. And the inner lining is also very comfortable.
I read through all of the reviews and ordered what I thought was a size smaller. I am 5'10", 220# and I usually like to wear an XL. I got the large and it is still a little big. I probably could have gone with the medium and been satisfied. The large isn't overly baggy, but even with a insulated fleece underneath it's still pretty loose and the sleeves are long, but they cuff nicely. It's tricky ordering clothes online but I would say if you are about my size and have a bit of a gut, don't be afraid to go with the medium. All in all this is a great and professional looking coat that I am sure will get a lot of use as my outer layer this winter. There is another place online that has this coat for about ten dollars less, something like $45-$50, but I have been so consistently satisfied with the speed of delivery through amazon that I personally didn't want to chance going to that place and having to potentially wait weeks for the coat to arrive.

Among the best of the best!,

I've had many coats of high quality, like Helly Hansen's and more. This is definitely among the best I've had. Proved itself during the Blizzard of 2010 here on the east coast. I enjoy the long back, great pockets and liner by your wrist keeping it tight to your skin. It also breath very well like advertised. It would be great to have a longer version for the arms, but other than that the L fit me well and I'm 6'5".

This is a pretty solid rain jacket, kept me dry for a festival all day. Only thing I didn't like was sometimes the rain hood water dripped on my face. Overall great rain jacket

This is a very good rain coat! It keeps ya dry that's for sure, the only thing that would make it better is for it to have a zipper but the buttons are OK. I like the flexible material too. I would suggest sticking with the Large or xlarge but not the Long the sleeves are abit too long.

Great quality pvc wear. Neoprene cuffs, corduroy collar, double snaps, buttons up to chin and plenty of room. I followed another reviewers advice and got the XL even though Im a true 2XL guy. He was right on the money, perfect fit with room to spare. I've worn various breathables which blead through after hours of continual use. While loading cars and tying them down I'd also have water running down my pants or into my cuffs. Problem solved,I don't get wet anymore. Also get the matching bibs, again a size down.

Fantastic jacket. Very comfortable stylish, and performs well in the heaviest of downpours. Something you should note though, it IS designed to be worn in layers. Maybe even just a light sweater.
It was fairly warm without a sweater but the fit a little cumbersome, and it doesn't allow your skin to breathe well as it is the definition of waterproof (And waterproof of course is from the inside as well as outside). This means your skin could be warm to cold and clammy without that second layer, just take my advice and wear one with this coat. The hood also detaches, and there are nice big pockets to put your junk in.

Great coat for working outside in the Pacific Northwest,

I use this coat for working on the farm. This coat is wonderful. The material is soft, flexible and tough. Dirt and hay and other farm "debris" doesn't appear to stick to it like some other coats I have had. It is not heavy, doesn't bind like inflexible "plastic" coats. It keeps out rain and wind. I can put this coat over sweatshirts if it's colder. Generously sized. Great coat if you need a work coat that will protect you and keep you comfortable in wet and/or windy conditions. Fine to wear when it's not raining and it doesn't make you sweat when working like other coats that I have had. I live north of Seattle, WA (rain, rain, rain) and it's been tested with rain/wind and it keeps me protected. At first I thought I would dislike the buttons (I am a zipper fan) but have discovered that when it's not windy, I can button part of them and when it's rainy and windy and fully buttoned that this coat keeps the rain and wind out---even when it's raining "sideways". The hood is great too...hoods are always a problem with me because I don't really like hoods but this one has the adjustable slide pulls (not sure what you call them) that allows you to adjust the tightness of the hood without tying. You can also remove the hood. I like having that choice. Just an all-around great coat for working.

I received this rain coat jacket a week ago. It is very beautiful looking jacket. Works perfect in rainy weather. I just wear it even in cold weather whether it is raining or not, because I like this jacket and also helps me from cold. This jacket can become perfect rain coat if they add two things to it or make another product just like this one: 1. make it longer to knees 2. replace buttons to zipper. One more suggestion for buyers: if you are approximate 165 pounds and 5'8" long or close to that then order medium size jacket, unless you really love large size jacket.

Unusually nice rain jacket,
This review is from: Carhartt Men's Work-Flex Coat (Apparel)
I agree with everything said so far but here is my unique take on this jacket. My job is wet sandblasting of ships hulls and for that this is the best outer covering I've tried. Total protection from the violent wet, sandy blasting going on around me and so comfortable compared to stiff, old style vinyl rain gear. The size thing talked about here had me spooked so went to a local work wear store to check it out and yes, in most things I wear Lg or Xl but those were too big, Med fit perfect and I'm 5'9", 220. I bought it there since I appreciate the bricks and mortar places particularly when you need to see a product and try it on. Inner sleeve straps keep the wet and grit out of my arms as I'm reaching up high with my blasting hose. Overlapping front flaps with buttons works great as I can't wear zippers in my work because the sand jams them up. And the wet sand doesn't stick to me much so its easy for my co-workers to hose me off at breaktime. If you do wet, dirty work this is the way to go.

A hurricane worthy coat,

I love this totally rain proof fabric because it is lightweight, flexible and has give to it. It serves well in very harsh conditions and boasts extra advantages. The hood is detachable although having the hood is a main selling point for me. When you need this sort of jacket, chances are you're not interested in carrying an umbrella. The jacket feels substantial and protective and does the job even when rain is blowing sideways.I ordered a large and tall size so I was sure to get great coverage. Well, it's huge. Way larger than I need, but I love it anyway. The jacket runs really big, so other reviewers suggestion to order a size smaller (or two), is well founded and I should have followed that advice. I wanted the tall because I wanted more a coat than a jacket and as a woman of 5'4" that works great. It comes almost to my knees. Of course the sleeves are much too long--so I cut off the excess up to the sealed seam that surrounds the sleeve just below the adjustable inner cuff. I could shorten them more, but like that inner cuff. I have animals outside that need care so I have to go out in all sorts of weather and needed something that would protect me no matter what. This jacket surely does that. There is no zipper; the closer is via good quality snaps in a double layer track. That adds protection from the elements as the snaps alternate the direction they close. In normal rain conditions, I usually only close one or two snaps, but fastening them all kept me dry during the hurricane. The hood, while ample, is not so deep as to fall down over your eyes like some hoods do. It can be pulled tighter around your face with cords that have those squeeze toggles so they lock in the position you set them. You don't have to tie the ends together. The coat doesn't have 'breathing' holes under the arms so it might get hot in steamy weather, but in a bad storm, you are probably willing to suffer that to keep from being completely drenched. Bottom line: the jacket feels good to wear, is exceptional quality and does the job. Highly recommended. |
