Decent shoe, but not 5 star worthy,

I've been wearing these nonstop for several months and they are holding up well. They are comfortable, but far from cushy. The soles are holding up very well with the bulk of my walking on pavement. No issues with laces or stitching whatsoever. They still look pretty good after all the use.For some reason, I was under the impression these may be somewhat waterproof. They are NOT, at all, in any way, even with a good soaking in silicone waterproofer. I get the tongue sliding to the side effect as well in these, and most shoes. Maybe that's our feet and not the shoe?

I purchased the " Kinetic "after exhausting my search for the Merrell "PIVOT". I have owned 2 pair and would have owned 3 had I been able to find my size again. The Kinetic is a great looking shoe and hopefully will loosen up after some wear.

Finally, a good Merrell low hiking shoe that comes in a wide width! My feet feel relaxed. Good comfort, good support for a low shoe, and good tread.

The best pair of shoes I've owned,

I bought the Kinetic Birch after trying countless "cheap shoes" at big box stores. These are the best pair of shoes I have owned. I only bought one pair due to the price, and being very cautious of my previous experiences with shoes. I have been wearing leather work boots for the past 20 years. I needed something that would breath better. I have worn these daily for the past 8 months, to work and to play. They are now starting to show signs of aging. I will stick with Merrell but might give the Moab a try because hot weather is right around the corner.
Cons: The laces gave out at about 6 months of daily use. No problem, laces are cheap and easy to come by. The tongue of each shoe quickly slides over to the outside of the shoe. This was the case right from day one, but that's typical of any shoe I wear. |
