I bought these to protect my wool mittens when snowblowing. Well, they would seem to be XXL at best, but if the leather was thicker and didn't stretch as much I don't think they would have worked for my application.
If buying the unlined gloves to use as over-mittens do not hesitate to size up. I usually wear XL or XXL gloves depending on how they fit. I have to say the XXXL were not comically over-sized when I wore them without the mittens underneath.
They were smart to keep as much of the stitching as possible away from the main (palm / finger) surfaces that you use, there is only one small bit of stitching in the crook of the thumb that could rip before the deerskin wore through, but there's no way around that. I expect these to last for many years.
I bought an UNLINED pair of these choppers size XXL (2XL) chopper mittens and they fit perfectly around a medium sized pair of Fox River Men's Extra Heavy Double Ragg Mitten wool liners that I can remove to dry both layers out faster when they get wet. (The lined version of these choppers provides very little insulation and is really just a protection between your skin and the rough leather. -I chose the unlined version so that I could pull out the separate wool mitten to dry faster.)
This produces a great, warm, tough (the chopper mittens have the smallest amount of seams possible, and none on the palm/fingers parts that you use), and breathable mitten for working outdoors in the cold. They're a little bulky, but I can still chop wood, shovel, and work a snow blower just fine (it's just a little tricky trying to start a zipper or something).
I'd upload a picture if either vendor allowed me to.

Sizing is inaccurate, should have upped one size, first time they get wet they'll no longer fit, great quality. Read morePublished 7 months ago by Shadowbirdie
A well constructed mitten that should be extremely comfortable...however the sizing is ridiculously poor.
Mittens sold as size XXXL is actually just barely an XL. Read more
I love these for my hands. I wanted some soft mitts. Great. Soft inner puffy liner very nice on cold days.Published 9 months ago by dr Bee
Great product and great customer service from the company.Published 10 months ago by Matt & Chastity Barber
Small for a size large. Didn't realize that they had thin-sulate which, in my opinion, is not an insulation. Made in China, which I don't like.Published 10 months ago by Roger D. Christian
