The author is a Feminist Psychoanalyst. Yes, there is such a thing. Read this book and you'll enjoy such statements as, 'menstrual blood is gendered blood.' Mary Jane reads her scholarly papers in front of audiences like 'a menopause support group' in Baltimore. Hilarious, but best taken in small doses (like medicine for PMS?).
