A great introduction to the mental game of golf,

I've read several of Dr. Cohn's books on the mental game and this one really helped me understand the zone and how to get into the zone more often. I love the quotes he uses from tour pros to highlight the major points. After reading his book, I went out and shot one of my best rounds of the year because I tried less to make it happen.

I am certain that Mr Cohn is a bright man however it would appear that little effort went into this book. The content is highly repitive,he could have deliverd his thoughts in one third of the space and delivered a much better product in the process. He often describes that which he will be writing about later in his book. I tried many times to read this book but would become frustrated with the content and delivery. Save your money or spend less money and purchase one of Rotella's books

I like the concept of this book, but I like the original version better. The great quoites were all placed in boxes for quick review. Great reading for Jr. golfers also. The newer version left out the boxes and changed the text font style and I did not think this was as great as the original.

Breakout concepts to take your game to the next level!,

IM a newcomer to the game of golf. I took the leasons, read many books, and hit the ranges and practice greens hard. In regards to the game of golf itself I was awful. I could not figure it out! Then during a round with a friend and after shooting an awful score on the front 9 things changed. I decided to just relax on the back 9 and have faith in my swing and just 'let it flow!' Bam! My score for the back 9 turned into, for myself, the best 9 of golf up to that point (41!). I picked up this book because I releized for me the mental game plays a huge role in golf. The concepts enabled me to play with trust, confidence, and an even keel. The mechanical overemphasis prior and during the swing was gone. The constant search for perfecting techniqe was out the window! I play the game of golf now with a great deal more enjoyment and as a result my scores are going down! If your stuck in the 'dead zone' and trying to figure out why you can not play the game game of golf well, despite the leasons, reading, and practice, then this book is for you!

I have read several of Dr. Cohn's books and he is an excellent sports psychologist. The Mental Game of Golf was a great read for me because it helped me understand the zone and how to get into the zone more often. After reading his book, I shot one of the best scores of the year with little effort. I was able to try less to make it happen as he talks about in the book. I highly recommend this book and any of his other books.

Book full of things you already know,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mental Game of Golf: A Guide to Peak Performance (Paperback)
I felt there was nothing in the book that was useful information. All the book talks about is stress and anxiety and how to deal with those poroblems. Nothing you don't know already. You feel like your reading the same thing over and over. No useful info that will help your game.
