5.0 out of 5 stars When Optimism reigned in Spokane & North Idaho, August 13, 2011
This review is from: Mental Territories: Mapping the Inland Empire (Paperback)
I've just finished Mental Territories: Mapping the Inland Empire, and enjoyed it very much. I was born in Spokane and reared in nearby Kootenai County, Idaho, so I found the history of growth and conflict in The Inland Empire fascinating. Well researched; well-written. The sections on mining in the Coeur d'Alene and on the Wobblies (I.W.W.) were particularly of interest. And I do think of myself as a citizen of The Inland Empire, even though it's no longer at the top of the first page of the Spokesman-Review. Recommended to anyone wanting to consider the history of the Pacific Northwest from a different perspective.
