Demetrio llega a una mina en la selva a buscar a su hermano Ricardo, y ahí se entera que después de haber descubierto la mina, Ricardo se suicidó por el amor de una mujer. Demetrio encuentra rastros de ella y se propone vengar la muerte de su hermano. En lujosa residencia de La Habana viven las hermosas primas Verónica y Virgina. Demetrio se casa con Verónica y sin viaje de bodas la lleva a vivir al mineral, tratándola con una rudeza inexplicable e intentando que ella confiese ser la causa del suicido de su hermano. Cansada de los malos tratos, Verónica se escapa del mineral y vuelve a La Habana. Demetrio se entera que la causante de la muerte de su hermano no fue Verónica sino otra mujer cuyo retrato tenía Ricardo. Demetrio sale en su búsqueda y cuando llega a la casa en La Habana se entera que Verónica ha descubierto que Virgina es la causante de la muerte de Ricardo. Virginia se suicida, Demetrio le pide perdón a Verónica y todo acaba felizmente. Demetrio goes to a mine in the jungle looking for his brother Ricardo. When he gets there, he learns that after discovering the mine, Ricardo killed himself for the love of a woman. Demetrio finds traces of the woman he blames for Ricardo’s death and is intent on finding her. Beautiful cousins Veronica and Virginia live in a luxurious house in Havana. Demetrio marries Veronica and takes her to live at the mine in the jungle, treating her badly and trying to get her to confess that she was responsible for Ricardo’s death. Tired of shabby treatment, Veronica escapes and returns to Havana. Demetrio then learns that it was another woman who caused Ricardo’s death and finds her photograph. When Ricardo returns to Havana, he finds out that Veronica has confronted Virginia for the death of Ricardo. Virginia commits suicide, Demetrio apologizes to Veronica and all ends well.
