Carson Pue, Mentoring,
By
This review is from: Mentoring Leaders: Wisdom for Developing Character, Calling, and Competency (Paperback)
Drawing on years of experience as a mentor, mentee, and as head of Arrow Leadership's matching system for leadership mentoring, Carson has written a book choc-full of insight and advice for mentors and their mentees alike. Solidly grounded in the North American Evangelical community, the book is instructive and packed with personal insights gleaned over years of experience as a leader, father, husband, and son. Personal reflections from his son Jason, his wife, and others round out the presentation in an engaging fashion.

Student-Baton Rouge,
This review is from: Mentoring Leaders: Wisdom for Developing Character, Calling, and Competency (Paperback)
Mentoring Leaders is truly a guide for pastors, mentors, leaders and disciples. Pue gives informative information on the concepts of wisdom for developing character, calling, and competency in ministry from start of leadership to continuation. Also outlined within the book is helpful advice and suggestions when faced with adversities, to having a balanced life within the ministry. Pue points out important concepts about mentoring that in my opinion, carved the framework of my understanding of Mentoring. These concepts being: how important it is to recognize that leadership and mentoring is an ongoing process, how very important it is that we as leaders and mentors must be able to see beyond the immediate to God's desired future of an individual, and that Mentoring begins with the leader/mentor.
Pue also brings to our attention things mentors/leaders must be aware of in the different phases of Mentoring - warning signs, if you will. Mentoring Leaders is a great book to reflect back on when you as a leader find ourself faced with challenges. Pue makes clear that there are two major questions that must be answered in relation to the Christian growth process. They are: Where do we perceive our relationship with God and where is God in our life? There is a wealth of knowledge within these pages that will take any leader/mentor beyond their leadership needs.

It is great and very needed book. I wish to have it in Polish. We do not have to many good books about mentoring, I have read few and find Carson's as the one of most important and helpful in my ministry and in leadership development!

Mentoring Leaders,
This review is from: Mentoring Leaders: Wisdom for Developing Character, Calling, and Competency (Paperback)
Carson Pue's book, Mentoring Leaders, is full of insights and wisdom gained over his many years involved with mentoring leaders in today's society and Christian community. His experience is shown through his leadership of Arrow Leadership which is now in several countries around the world, and the thousands of leaders that have gone through the program. Mentoring Leaders gives key insights and practicality to something that is lacking today-gifted leaders realizing who they are, how they are gifted and influencing others to do the same.

Thorough training for the equipping of emerging leaders,
This review is from: Mentoring Leaders: Wisdom for Developing Character, Calling, and Competency (Paperback)
Carson Pue is a great leader and a great mentor of leaders, and this book distills his many years of leadership wisdom into a usable "curriculum" for leadership development, based on a cycle of growth involving self-awareness, freeing up from barriers to effectiveness, visioning, implementing, and sustaining (which all leads to greater self-awareness). I found this book tremendously helpful in my own growth as a leader, and I also use a lot of this material in different ways with the leaders that I'm investing in. One of the best and most practical books on leadership development I've read... it's full of notes, bookmarks, and dog-eared pages that I refer to frequently.

An Essential Resource,
This review is from: Mentoring Leaders: Wisdom for Developing Character, Calling, and Competency (Paperback)
Mentoring Leaders is an essential resource for developing leadership through mentored relationships. It serves first as a handbook for mentors; a kind of blueprint to help guide someone through the inevitable phases of discovering who they are, how they are designed and gifted, and what direction they need to pursue. The book is also loaded with experience-drenched wisdom, providing a helpful reference source for insight and encouragement.
I equip key leaders in my church with Mentoring Leaders to provide a common paradigm and vocabulary for development. When I have the opportunity to suggest a leadership development resource to someone, this is the first book I mention. (I usually keep an extra copy or two on hand to give away.) There are many great resources available today, but this is the one you should obtain first! |
