Strong, well padded and very comfortable, the Mephisto sandals feel much more like Mephisto shoes than actual sandals. Not a long term sandal wearer, these are so very comfortable and appear to be made with very strong leather. I spoke to Mephisto's top cobbler who stated that even the buckles do not wear out, but Mephisto will repair them, free of charge, should something happen, for however long you have them.

I am a big fan of Mephisto shoes and these are the first sandals that I have tried and am amazed at the comfort!

I am on my second pair of Shark Mephisto sandals now and plan on my next pair soon. They are the most comfortable sandal/shoe that I have ever worn and have never had any discomfort with them or problems. They have spoiled me for comfort. They also feel very secure on the foot and there is not adjustment period that comes with some sandals or shoes for how they wear on your feet. If I had only one form of foot wear to wear for the rest of my life, I would choose the Shark. I wear them nearly everyday, and the only time I do not wear them is on the beach when I go into the water. Why ruin them, even though you can wash them with a hose if needed.

The Mephisto Shark is a terrific shoe with outstanding comfort. I have owned and worn mine for approximately five year. They mold to your feet to provide maximum comfort and they still look great. They also provide me with great arch support. They are pricey, but well worth the money when you consider the comfort factor and how long they last and still look good.

I just got the Shark Mephisto sandals today. They feel good right away; since I first put them on. They have more cushion than my other sandals. The strap system using velcro and or a buckle over the top of one's foot. The foot bed is suede (mine is brown) and it looks better than those in the pictures advertised. The sandals are easy to adjust to get a perfect fit. They feel light to me. I ordered a full size larger than my regular dress shoe size and the Shark sandals fit perfect. I have a narrow foot; but with the velcro straps I was easily able to adjust the width to my foot. I will give an update later. I wore these sandals on the sidewalks and off road over redwood leaves and gravel. I always had good traction. I wanted to get these sandals as I read about them having the cork and latex footbed like Birkenstalk sandals which I have owned and enjoyed; but the Shark has a much thicker sole than the Birkenstalks that I had. These sandals appear well made and sturdy. They come with a repair service to recondition them or resole them as needed for less than a third of the cost of the original sandals.

Living in AZ, I wear sandals very often but have never found a pair that were completely satisfactory. Usually it takes months to wear in, often with pieces of moleskin or bandage to cover the "rough" spots. The Mephisto were comfortable, walkable, and had no rough spots. I have other Mephisto shoes so thought I would try their sandals, great choice!

The SHARK model is the best sandal ever made in my opinion. Do not bother with any other sandal brand or other Mephisto sandal.

As I am an older man (65 years old) and naturally I need a great confort for my foot, when I go out for a long walking day as I am now in NY. Every day in actual trip of vacancies, I walk a lot for shopping and visit many places in this esplendorous city.

This is my Husband's 3rd or 4th pair. They last for 3-4 years and he wears them every single day. Worth the money. Great quality!

I bought my first pair in 1999, and wore them... well, you know how men and shoes can get, especially as considered by women. My wife insisted in 2006 I get a new pair. Honestly, I was happy with the original pair, but they were getting old and tattered around the edges. The well worn soles stared to crack on one anyway, but they were dear friends.

The 2006 pair was still very serviceable until today, thanks to our 8 month old puppy. She's shown equal disdain for all things material, so I can't hardly blame her (I would like to think that the tastes offered by my sandal were just as enjoyable and contributed to the satisfaction she was expressing when I caught her).

Bottom Line: Durable, long life, great fit and all around the best sandal money can buy for wearing 9 months/year in Texas. It's 12 years and two pairs later and I'm looking forward to ordering a new pair.
