this is a nice gaming key board. they say soon we will be able to custom assign the keys. My only compliant about the key board is having to hit the number key for hitting the delete key. Im a heavy battlefield 2 gamer.

The equipment doesn't make the gamer, but a great gamer with great equipment becomes an awesome gamer.

This windows XP to 7 x64 and everything in between compatible keyboard is absolutely awesome for gaming. Coupled with a logitech G9 I am able to absolutely obliterate most anyone in an FPS, though of course I'm not top dog - I'm able to join random UT3 servers and hold my own in an 18 person CTF. ( My score was 36, smack in the middle of my team's board, I've still not mastered the 'flying rocket man' routine )

This also significantly helps in guild wars, where it provides quick access to skill keys and makes the controls a bit more intuitive ( I.E. I can hold control or alt to see all enemies/allies without stretching my hand a huge amount ).

It also detects most other modern games ( All source engine games ) and modifies the keyset accordingly.


What it doesn't do is fully replace a PS2 standby keyboard, especially if you're working in blender 3D. Your arrow keys are crowded into your numpad, which relies on the numlock to switch between your insert-home-pageup-delete-end-pagedown keys and normal numpad functionality. Control+alt+delete requires numlock to be off.

So I keep an older PS2 keyboard hooked up and setting off to the side for when I use blender 3D or a game that I prefer arrow key movement to other control schemes ( I.E. oblivion, star wars battlefront 2, and a few other console ports ).

Beware that ideazon, the original makers of this product, have been bought by steelseries, and the transition is still ongoing and this product might be dropped by their support - which would be a shame as it gives a competitive edge and is an awesome product.

I also own the fang, which is the gamepad on this keyboard, but seperate. It isn't as good as this, but may give you a slight edge as well.

Like the other reviewers, this is a great combo keyboard for gamers. BUT it really needs a delete key that is not tied to the NUMLOCK button. Has a real keyboard feel (unlike the swappable keyboard that Z-board makes).
