This review is from: Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR (Ludvigsen Library) (Paperback)
Wow. What a fantastic collection of photos and documentation by Ludvigsen. Starts with the prototype design of the 300SLR and moves to a couple of blueprints of the chassis and general layout. Very informative with enough detail to enjoy the beauty and ingenuity of the Mercedes Benz engineers. Moves onto some impressive photos of the chassis, and technical points of the 300SLR, including the amazing straight 8 engine, and finishes with period action photos (some taken by Rudy Mailander) of the car being raced by Moss/Kling/Fangio and other drivers including the unfortunate Levegh car.
Photos are in black and white. Fans of the Uhlenhaut 300SLR coupe will not be disappointed, as it is covered in minor detail too. A nice compliment to this is the "Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix W196" book written/published by the same author/group. |
