Death metal with a doom edge,

Easily one of the best death metal albums ever
if you get tired of hearing the same old thing in the death metal genre. Really doomy edge, with enough groove and interesting twists on the usual stuff to keep things moving. Great album.

when you put this cd on, it's like being caught in a tornado. these guys are very talented. hope they come back to metal blade.

This CD is simply amazing! I purchased it nearly a year ago, and it still gets heavy rotation in my CD player!Though not typically a fan of the "Death metal/grindcore" genre of music, Bolt Thrower pulls it off in a way that makes it enjoyable anyway. "Mercenary" takes you inside the mind of a military man who is trained to do nothing but kill, and boy do they do a good job! Highly brutal, each song is a masterful portrayal of what it is like to be on the killing fields. This non-stop barrage of pounding guitars, thrashing drums, and growled vocals gives one the feeling of the anger and hatred coursing through the veins of a man at war. Brutally honest, each song tells the listener of how the evils of war work on the minds of mankind. Songs like "Zeroed" speak of the deaths on a battlefield in a negative, sometimes sarcastic way. "Reduced to Zero... the sum of mankind." With lyrics like that, one gets a bleak view of what the future holds for humanity we allow the destruction to continue. I would recommend this to ANY fan of any sort of metal, or just heavy music in general. This album is a masterpiece sure to please all who listen!
