Overall not a bad book, found it to be very general in a few key area; this would be due to such a large range of models covered. Next time I may look at the OEM manual; for a comparission.

This has tons of great information about the repair and maintenance, though the pictures are dated and not all close enough to see the details of what is being illustrated. I would recommend this for the weekend hobby person to skilled mechanic to assist in any work on this model of outboard.

My first experience with Amazon; via a gift certificate from my daughter Roxanne. A really useful choice - to help me maintain my 35 yo Mercury 500. Delivery time exceeded my expectation and the updates on delivery time were great. Purchased at a fantastic price (even after the delivery cost) and I will buy via Amazon again!

The manual is informative , but it is a little hard to follow at times . It assumes a depth of knowledge that may be beyond what the normal do it yourselfer might possess.

This book enabled me to make costly repairs to my boat motor saving me a lot of money because I did the repairs myself.

Good book has been a great help since many shops dont work on old outboards any more.

This book was exactly what I thought it was and was just what I needed to troubleshoot my 84 merc.

I found this manual helpful in understanding the workings of my outboard better.
It covers a large model/ year range.
It may not be as informative as a full OEM outboard manufacturer's specific model repair/service manual, but for the DYIer it suffices and should help with the basics of outboard repair.
The real only critisism I found was the quality of some of the photos, some appear of very low quality, akin to a bad photo copy of another photo. Seloc could do well to improve on this.

Well written, very descriptive and great photos. I wish all repair manuals were this good.

This Repair manual seems to be in good condition and should allow us to restore an old Mercury outboard this winter.
