5.0 out of 5 stars THE show about real illness, doctors, nurses and PTSD
In a country that just returned several hundred thousand people who will likely suffer from PTSD, horrific that the one show they can identify with where it is talked about is cancelled.

3.0 out of 5 stars Personally liked 'Trauma' Better....
So I stumbled upon this show as well as Trauma on Netflix. It's not a bad show, but was a bit slow at times. I was kind of hoping for more action in this show especially after watching Trauma and with it being a medical show. Favorite episode would really have to be the last episode but then I'm also mad at it since they cancelled it and now I'm left wondering WTH...

5.0 out of 5 stars THE show about real illness, doctors, nurses and PTSD, August 19, 2010

In a country that just returned several hundred thousand people who will likely suffer from PTSD, horrific that the one show they can identify with where it is talked about is cancelled.

The one show which has anorexia, has chronic illnesses, has home care (which, with the baby boomers hitting mid sixties is a big topic), has the urban realism of nurses who have to try to speak up for patients. That care extends to protecting an intersex girl being treated in a way by a group of male doctors that would get them arrested outside of a hospital, to openly talking about the reality of child sex abuse - by parents. It is more than just the `puzzle of the week' or the `horrific injury of the week' but about realizing that care is beyond just medicine and that hospitals are where we are at our worst, and we are terrified. And nurses are the faces we see who make the difference in believing someone cares or not. But they are people too, and that caring comes with a cost.

I am tired of shows of superstar doctors or all about the diagnostics. I have a dozen friends or relatives with conditions, and horror stories to go with them. The best thing is getting a nurse that gives a damn (and a doctor who can see beyond their ego). This IS PTSD, this is medical conditions, this IS life.

This is the writer who gave the only realistic representation of a quad on television in Friday Night Lights season one, both in treatment/rehab and socially in the community. I'll watch whatever she writes or produces.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Surprise... and a Shame It Was Cancelled, May 27, 2010
This review is from: Mercy: The Complete Series (DVD)
I didn't go into watching this show expecting much, but it's silly and fun and thoroughly replaced Grey's Anatomy in my life. And honestly it's one of only a couple shows from this past season that I actually want to spend my money on. It contains solidly the best work Michelle Trachtenberg and James Van Der Beek have ever done, and Taylor Schilling is refreshing in the lead role.

If you liked Grey's Anatomy at its best, seriously check out Mercy. Now if only we could get another network (USA, Lifetime) to pick it up so we could ever find out the resolution to the season ending cliffhangers. Sigh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Mercy!, June 3, 2010
This review is from: Mercy: The Complete Series (DVD)
Mercy blew me away. The actors are wonderful! It should have never been canceled! I first starting watching this show because I'm a nursing student, but then I absolutely fell in love. The three main characters can ACT! I mean, really act! The series seemed so real and original. This is definitely a good buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Haven't seen DVD but LOVED the show, May 28, 2010
This review is from: Mercy: The Complete Series (DVD)
I loved this show. Law & Order's demise is the fault of NBC execs & Leno vs Conan, NOT Mercy.

Screw NBC for pulling a show with such an intense cliff-hanger of a season-not-series finale.

If I were to get the next episode (the never to be aired episode of the non-existent season two), I would snap this up in a New Jersey heartbeat.

Michelle Trachtenberg was terrific in this show, her best work ever. Taylor Schilling, the beautiful Jamie Lee Kirchner, James van der Beek, KELLY BISHOP -- great job playing a rich lady with ALS...Mary Stuart Masterson...the casting was superb all around.

Once again the ratings system claims another victim, this time Mercy, a fine new show that bases itself around the lives of three nurses, one of whom is a recent returnee from the battlefields of Iraq. I first watched this show in Australia via late night tv, although the first few shows were run in prime-time before being relegated to the midnight slot. It's a pity it didn't rate well enough to continue on. Medical drama's are very hit and miss and need an angle to sustain interest. E.R. ran for as long as it did due to fine acting and writing. Grey's Anatomy has a quirky nature to it that has pushed beyond the odd poor story arc and having a good-looking cast never hurts. I found Mercy slotted neatly between the two, balancing good storylines with a quirkiness that made us like every character, even the stiff Dr.Harris. I find it staggering that a show based in Jersey, with supporting characters like Ronnie's entire family gets cancelled yet rubbish like Jersey Shore continues on. Oh well this boxed set can slot in to my collection alongside Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Nowhere Man and the recently purchased Dark Skies as yet another fine show that met a premature end. Hey, Jag got cancelled then picked up for another nine years. Unfortunately the exception not the rule here. Oh and I don't know what it is but there's something hot about Taylor Schilling. Will watch her career continue with interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favourite Show, May 27, 2010
This review is from: Mercy: The Complete Series (DVD)
This show is great, I love to watch it.
Now they cancelled it I only have Gossip Girl =[.
The season finale has a cliffhanger and now
we need to know how it ends! I dearly hope I can find it on this dvd
other wise I have to ask NBC to end it with a second season.

This show is great for people who also love Grey's Anatomy.
I think it's even better.

xoxo

5.0 out of 5 stars CAME BACK TO BUY SEASON TWO but show canceled, August 30, 2010
This review is from: Mercy: The Complete Series (DVD)
I don't watch TV.....only box sets of DVDs. I did not know when Mercy had aired and went online to find Season 2 only to find that the show had been canceled at the end of Season 1. WHAT A SHAME! It is rare to find a show with such strong characters. True, I was driven crazy with the heroine's flip flopping back and forth between her husband and her lover, but overall, the series was excellent and that is hard to achieve on a crowded playing field (so many hospital-based programs, past and present). NBC was nuts to cancel it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Show, August 4, 2010
This review is from: Mercy: The Complete Series (DVD)
I seriously do not understand how this show got low ratings. It wasn't some other BS medical drama clone that you see pop up everywhere. It was unique, and centered around a kick-ass nurse that went above and beyond her call of duty. Usually, I agree with ratings people give movies and shows, but this one, I don't and never will get.

Love this show. Is definately my favourite medical drama.
Follows the life of nurse Veronica who recently returned from serving in Iraq. The is a love triangle and plenty of eye candy.
Sucks that there was only 1 SEASON IT ENDS WITH A CLIFF HANGER WHICH LEAVES YOU WONDERING WHO SURVIVES. Would definitely recommend to anyone .
