Exquisite,

This CD takes my breath away. I love to play it in the house to remind me that anything I am doing in that moment is sacred. I have been a fan of kirtan for many years, and this album has the same sense of being composed, performed and edited in prayer.

I purchased this as a gift for my husband as background music for meditation. We both really like it. It is not monotonous like some meditation music, but also is not distracting, but sets a nice tone for getting in the meditation zone.It would also be good background music for massages.

You can't hear samples of this CD, but I took a risk on it because of the title. Mercy song indicates Christian. One does not hear any new age type music that's Christian.I didn't know that this was chant music. It's wonderful blend of Eastern chants and Christian, which I really love. For me, the two religions are such beaautiful compliments to each other. Mercedes has a sweet voice and I can feel her reach toward the Divine in the eloquent manner that she handles these chants. I rated this a 4 instead of a 5 because in the last piece she does something (I'm not a musician) or she uses her voice in a way that combined with the repetition of chant, became distracting. It didn't blend the same way the other pieces did for my ear. I can reccommend this CD, if you like chant or are not familiar with it. One of the things I really liked about this CD was that it didn't have that "commercial" quality. I felt this sincere and beautiful effort. I will be looking for more of her work.
