Amazon.com Product Description

Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for dogs and cats. For dog owners who want long-lasting, fast-acting flea, tick, and chewing lice control, Frontline Plus guarantees control on dogs aged 8 weeks and older. You only have to apply Frontline Plus once a month, so a 3-Dose supply will provide you with up to 3 months of convenient, highly effective flea, flea egg, chewing lice, and tick control.

Frontline Plus kills up to 100% of existing fleas in less than 24 hours and continues, on a single dose, killing them for at least an entire month. Its special ingredient also kills flea eggs and larvae, which, in effect, prevents the development of new fleas. It destroys all stages of 4 major ticks, including ticks that may carry Lyme disease, which provides your dog and your family with additional protection. Frontline Plus is waterproof, so your dog will still be protected if it bathes or goes for a swim. Merial backs up Frontline Plus with a limited Satisfaction Guarantee.

Using Frontline Plus is a simple 3-step process. First, remove the applicator from the child-resistant package, use scissors or just lift the plastic tab to expose the foil, and then peel down. Secondly, open the applicator, hold it upright, and snap the tip away from your face and body. Finally, apply Frontline Plus by placing the applicator tip through your dog's hair to the skin between the shoulder blades. Squeeze the applicator to apply the entire dose to a single spot on the dog's skin.

Directions

It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

To kill fleas and all stages of brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, lone star ticks, and deer ticks (the major carrier of Lyme disease), apply to dogs or puppies (8 weeks or older) as follows:
Remove applicator form child-resistant package. Hold applicator upright and snap applicator tip away from face and body. Place applicator tip through animal's hair to the skin level between the shoulder blades. Squeeze applicator, applying entire contents in a single spot to the animal's skin. Avoid superficial application to the animal's hair. Only one applicator per treatment is needed.

Frequency of Application:
When used monthly, FRONTLINE PLUS FOR DOGS completely breaks the flea life cycle and controls tick infestations. Research demonstrates that FRONTLINE PLUS kills adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae for up to three months. FRONTLINE PLUS also prevents development of all flea stages for up to three months. FRONTLINE PLUS kills ticks for at least one month. A once monthly application is recommended where tick control is needed. Although FRONTLINE PLUS can control fleas for up to three months, if there is a high risk of reinfestation or if the pet has fleas which may cause flea allergy dermatitis, a once monthly application may be needed.

FRONTLINE remains effective even after bathing, water immersion, or exposure to sunlight. Avoid contact with treated area until dry. Do not reapply FRONTLINE for 30 days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flea and Tick Free, July 8, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My dog is a Chow mix and very furry. Ticks are impossible to find under her two layered coat until it's too late. At first, I tried cheaper brands. They work on ticks but do nothing for fleas. Then my vet recommended Frontline. I later tried K9 Advantix since they claim to also kill mosquitos, but I didn't notice any difference with the little bloodsuckers. And the protection from K9 Advantix didn't seem to last as long so I switched back to Frontline.

Frontline works great for us. My dog is an outdoor dog and our county reportedly has more deer than people. And with deer come deer ticks. I've seen deer in my back yard and my dog's house is very near the woods for shade. And she likes to take the occasional jaunt through the woods. Still I rarely find a tick on her. And when I do, they're usually dead (or soon will be).

I wish I'd known Amazon was selling Frontline for a better price sooner. I've been purchasing only 3 months worth for about $50 from another site for the last 2 years. Very frustrating since before you know it, you're out. With 6 months worth I only have to remember 2 times a year instead of 4.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best There Is!, June 12, 2005

Frontline Plus is the best way to keep fleas and ticks off your dog. It is applied once per month in about 3 minutes. It seems to have little or no side effects on the dog. It has been used for many years on dogs without problems. I checked all products and asked various vets and everyone agrees that Frontline Plus is the best way to keep ticks and fleas off your dog. The Plus even kills the flea eggs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Once a great product, but is losing its effectiveness, June 9, 2009
I have used Frontline every year since it first came onto the market to control ticks and fleas - I was always very happy with the product and it worked well.

Something, however, HAS CHANGED WITH THIS PRODUCT - last year it was less effective and I chalked it all up to a different house, a different neighborhood, and the addition of yet another rescued dog. This year, however, I realize that it is not me, not how I am using it, and not the new environment - it simply doesn't work like it used to. My poor 16 year old cat could not get rid of his fleas and I had to switch to Advantix, which worked well for both my cat and my dogs.

I called Frontline's customer service number, and they were rude and inevitably insisted that it was wrong doing or incorrect usage on my part, which is funny given that I have used this for many years on dozens of animals with -surprise - no problem until this year. I highly recommend going a different route, even if you are a faithful Frontline customer; something is different about the product only just recently that has caused it to be less effective and it will not get rid of your problem.
