1.0 out of 5 stars My cat had an allergic reaction to this product...
My 8 year old cat suffered what my vet called 'a rare allergic reaction' to this product. The vet also said 'too bad, too, as it is the best product of its kind on the market'.

Within 24 hours of its application, my cat had bald burned spot about the size of two quarters. The skin looks like a chemical burn - irritated, pink and bit gooey. The vet said to...

This stuff does what is say. It stops fleas. So do your pets the favor. They will thank you. It's given once a month on their shoulder blades. Nothing I have ever used works this good.

Enough said.

Caution: Some cats get determined to twist themselves in a pretzel to lick this. I can caused them to foam at the mouth and make them hyper for about 24 hours after. Solution is easy. Take an old sock and trim the toes for an opening for kitty's head and the cut two arm holes. Makes a kitty' vest and will keep them from licking their shoudlers. Keep them in it for about 24-36 hours. No problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE !!!!!!, .............NO FLEAS, May 15, 2007
This review is from: Merial Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control for Cats and Kittens, 6 Doses (Misc.)
INCREDIBLE !!!!!!

I've used powders, I've used flea dips and flea shampoos and sprays flea combs.I then even resorted to garlic in their diets and on their fur..........nothing worked.

Then I tried Frontline, with my discouragement. Fleas are tough !

Frontline got rid of my ENTIRE FLEA PROBLEM.

The vet said to apply OTC topical hydrocortisone cream and that it is possible the fur will not grow back in the affected area. In any case, the cat is on the mend.

I called the toll free number on the Frontline box and spoke with a vet tech. He documented the cat's reaction and medical condition. He also said to send the remaining product back to Frontline for a full refund, which was a nice surprise.

I am not saying not to use this product, just keep an eye on your pet if you do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for eliminating fleas, September 24, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Merial Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control for Cats and Kittens, 6 Doses (Misc.)
In my household of several cats, many of whom enjoy going outdoors (and bringing occasional things inside, including fleas), we need something to keep the pests (the fleas, not the cats) under control. Frontline is one of the better products available for this purpose.

I've tried other solutions - flea collars, products from other sources, and have only found one other item that matches the Frontline effectiveness for eliminating fleas. Within a day of the first use, the cats had stopped scratching and licking incessantly at their fleas. One of my cats is particularly allergic to fleas, and breaks out with sores at the flea bites - for him, Frontline is nothing short of a miracle.

I have known cats to have serious reactions to the flea drops from some companies. My cats have had absolutely no bad reactions to the Frontline applications.

This is a product I will definitely buy again. My cats give this a big 16 paw salute (four cats, four paws each, you get the drift).

Took care of our existing flea problem right away. Have not seen any more of them, we are on our third month now. I put it on my cat the first of every month, and will probably never stop using it. Much cheaper than a trip to the vet, to be sure. Excellent product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Counterfeit?, March 2, 2009
By
I stumbled on a USA EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) page that warned of counterfeit pesticide pet products...(cut-n-paste to browser)...

[...]

The product received from this vendor (JNS Enterprises) failed *many* of the checks for authenticity. In their defense, they did offer to let me return it. However, their business address is in Illinois, the package came from Australia, and they said they purchase their Frontline products from France. I didn't bother returning it - shipping probably would have cost as much as the product for me and would likely have been returned. Against my better judgement, I went ahead and gave Kitty a dose - I had skipped a month and spring is here. She didn't appear to have any fleas at the time but I wanted to keep it that way. So far, no fleas and no dead Kitty.

I forwarded the correspondence to Merial (the Frontline manufacturer) and they replied with..

"It is Merial's sales policy to sell our small animal products only where a veterinarian/client/patient relationship exists. Therefore, we only sell to veterinarians. Merial believes that the veterinarian is the only professional qualified to serve the health care needs of pets, the concerns of their owners and the appropriate use of our small animal products such as FRONTLINE Brand Products."

That sounds like it came from their legal department. Of course, in the US you can buy this retail without any consultation from a veterinarian from any of the major pet supply chains. I suppose they probably have a disclaimer of some sort to skate around the manufacturer's "policy".

I gave this one star (can't select zero) because of the strong suspicion that they're selling counterfeit products according to the US EPA's website mentioned above. Use at your own risk!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Flea Control, June 11, 2008
Since I have two dogs who go outside, I need to protect my dogs and my cats.

If I use Frontline on my dogs early on, my dogs Frontline drops will sicken the fleas even if they hop onto my cats, they die pretty quickly and it won't even be necessary to apply Frontline to my cats(since they're always inside)

I did need this on all my cats years ago when Elsa ran away and back inside the fleas jumped onto every other cat. Cats whose blood is being sucked by fleas really suffer and the every minute scratching takes a lot out of them.

Years ago, I remember the process of flea combing and the strain it put on cats. I hated putting flea powder on them, because cats lick their fur endlessly and I don't trust the chemicals they ingest while licking with powders on.

How many happy pets can now live flea free thanks to these drops. I tried other brands Advantage and others, but thay were not hardly as effective.

I highly recommend these drops, especially to owners of outdoor cats or cats who go in and outside. I'm sure there are millions of dogs and cats whose lives have improved with the use of this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frontline PLUS for Cats, July 8, 2006
This review is from: Merial Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control for Cats and Kittens, 6 Doses (Misc.)
We have 3 indoor/outdoor cats and live in the middle of a forest - so ticks and fleas flourish around us. I use this product once a month and have not had a problem with ticks or fleas... I went through a "house infestation" once and swore it would never happen again. And I don't think it will, as long as I remember to apply the Frontline PLUS!
