4.0 out of 5 stars still the Descendents, February 22, 2004

To be honest I probably wouldn't like this EP if it wasn't The Descendents... but that's exactly what it is, nothing more and nothing less. If you never liked the Descendents, you're not gonna start liking them with this one. Pop-Punk is pretty retarded for the most part, but I can let this one slide since the Descendents pioneered the now shameful sub-genre that has been watered down and cliched to an extreme low. This is how it should sound. Honest. Fruity looking dorks in generic Pop-"Punk" bands please take note.

4.0 out of 5 stars Are you 'Merican?, February 11, 2004
This review is from: Merican (Audio CD)
This review may be invalid once "Cool To Be You"(First Descendent's album in 7 or 8 years) comes around.

This has some great pop/punk stuff, a political song(title track if you didn't notice), the angsty stuff just from life. Everything you'd expect and want the band to do, except maybe the political song. The political song is bit like Bad Religion, which isn't bad but is annoying to me. But remember that's me. The pop/punk girl songs(nothing with you and here with me)are the best part of this teaser, especially here with me which seems to be the most powerful tune on here to me. The serious pop like songs have always been my favorite part of the ALL/Descendents since I started listening to them four or five years ago, yeah I'm young. Well which leaves I quit to talk about, it's one of those angry tunes, like "Button it" or "Everything Sux". Which aren't powerful songs but there's always a funny line or two, maybe even an awesome Egerton solo.
There is a secret track entitled "Alive", which isn't the ALL song by Chad Price. It's a slow song with a plea. I don't know if I like it yet, 'tis very strange to me.

So this sucker is worth it for the unreleased Here with me, but that's about it unless you're on a QUEST FOR ALL! Or just want a sample of what's coming. I'd say I'm pretty excited I've been wating for this since they said a gnu descendents album was coming out three years ago. Can't Wait. 4 stars! Because it's a teaser EP.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just the appetizer...., February 14, 2004

Ok, this is just an EP based on tracks on the upcoming "Cool to be You" CD. I've been waiting what seems like forever for some new descendents/all music. The first 2 tracks, "Nothing Like You" and "'Merican" are great, and also, coincidentally, set to be released on the new cd. The bonus tracks, "Here with Me" and "I Quit" and the bonus instrumental track are just average, but leaves me wanting more. Overall, a great EP, however.
