Sure the movie is outdated compared to what cinema has become today but what early movies aren't. The first time I saw Meridian I was to young to appriciate it but now I do. The photograpy is great. Those with and active imagination will enjoy this movie more than others, and even if Beauty and the Beast type stories aren't your thing there is plenty of other aspects...

A beautiful young artist must choose her destiny in this hauntingly sensual tale of love, passion and revenge.
Catherine Bomarzini (Sherilyn Fenn of Two Moon Junction) returns to the family castle in Italy after her father's death. There she finds herself drawn into a mysterious love triangle with a handsome, sinister magician and a creature of the night whose gentle eyes and touch reveal his infinite love. Is this creature real or an illusion? Guided by the ghost of a slain young beauty, Catherine discovers the ancient curse that enshrouds Bomarzini Castle-a curse only she can dispel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this movie, It is top on my list to watch again, May 12, 2004

This movie is full of suspense, light erotica, rommance, great acting, backrounds and photography. I would highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys fantasy horror. It's only drawback is that it is not available in DVD form.

I recently bought and watched this movie, I got to say that I really liked it. The special effects were impressive when the man was turning into the werewolf, I liked the format of the werewolf and the story was romantic and passionate.

3.0 out of 5 stars See more of Sherilynn Fenn after midnight...., November 22, 2002

A lushly photographed Continental retelling of the Beauty-and-the- Beast/young-girl-comes-of-age-with-demon-who-turns-into-handsome-prince story, my commentary will part from other reviewers (I found the story predictable, and acting melodramatic) by mentioning my primary reason for purchase of this video: the Tuscan villa setting including the famous "Monster Grotto". The sculpture garden attributed to a retired 'condottiere' who commissioned grotesque sculptures for his meditative garden, reflecting his supposed cynical worldview. The views of this Tuscan curiosity are worth the lightweight fairy tale surrounding it.

3.0 out of 5 stars EROTIC TAKE ON BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, October 16, 2009
This review is from: Meridian [VHS] (VHS Tape)
EROTIC TAKE ON BEAUTY AND THE BEAST BY RICH J.SPANBURGH

Full Moon Video took full advantage of the new sexy genre take on creature movies.
Taking advantage of European locales using old castles as settings for stories of the occult. using new faces like Fenn and unknown actors who get paid scale.
I really like this movie,it has beauty,a good story,a slight twist and a small amount of nudity just to keep the viewer aroused and to take in the whole story about a woman who is chosen to change a curse put on a man who has the mark of the beast.I give this movie 3 stars out of 5. See this movie,it's not a classic but it will keep you interested.

3.0 out of 5 stars MY DAUGHTER RAN OFF WITH BIG-FOOT, November 18, 2011
By
Michael Ledo (Windsor, SC United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Catharine (Sherilyn Fenn) visits her family castle in Italy and her old nanny. She meets up with her American gf Gina (Charlie Spradling) who is uncovering an old painting. They in turn meet up with a group of side-show travelers who drug and seduce them. Things are not what they seem as it is all part of an elaborate ancient curse. The acting was mediocre, especially the nanny and Malcolm Jamieson when he had scenes talking to himself. I was hoping to see more of the midget. There are seduction scenes with ample nudity and Fenn getting her blouse ripped off. It was enough to hold my interest. The special make-up on the beast was above par.

sex, rape?, nudity (Sherilyn Fenn, Charlie Spradling)
