Graphics, controls, design are excellent. You are thrown into situations which is repetitive and tedious when you mess up but it breaks up the monotony of other racing games where you are given a backstory but never feel like you are doing anything but ramming into cars that are computer controlled.

Thought I would review this game just to let others know that this is not some cheaply thrown together game, it's top quality. A lot like the old Yakuza game where you have to catch the criminals. So you have to accept that you can't always drive around and take the path you want but it really feels like you are in the story.

The previous reviewers who reported problems with controls are partially correct. If you want the game to recognize a gamepad or whatever, you have to use it exclusively instead of the keyboard from the very start. Skip the intro and navigate the menus to start the game all with a controller and it will work just fine in-game. I ran into the same issue and had to do a little Googling to figure that out.

Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with this game at all. Good graphics, tight controls, interesting missions, and a highly detailed city to drive through. You don't just have streets and buildings, there are parking garages, construction sites, train tracks, and all kinds of obstacles, ramps, and areas you can drive around in. In fact, you're often rewarded for going off-road and ducking down alleys, busting through barriers and fences, and being creative with your routes.

The game reminds me a bit of the Driver series, maybe a bit of Need for Speed Undercover, and some Ridge Racer Unbounded. It's more about car chases than straight up racing though. Sometimes you're doing the chasing, sometimes you're being chased, sometimes both. There are also fun gadgets and tricks you can use, like a remote controlled bomb you can launch and drive under opponents to blow them up.

Overall it's a fun game! Just remember about how to get it to make your controller the primary input while driving and you'll have a great time with it.

Recently acquired this game in the groupees Meridian 4 bundle for about 40 cents, and not only was it worth it, it was not nearly as lack-luster as I'd been led to believe from reviews here. If anyone's experiencing problems with joysticks, try Xpadder, or Joy2Key, and your problems are solved in an instant.

Fun gameplay, not ground breaking-but certainly acceptable graphics, and plenty more options to sink time than a few of the tripe-A titles out atm. If you can get it discounted, grab it, and if you enjoy the genre, dump between 5-10 on it and enjoy the money well spent.

4 out of 5, or higher, depending on the price you can find it for.

Nice graphics engine exposing gorgeous graphics and a lot of detail in the environment make CTII a pleasure to look at. There are multiple difficulty levels. It's been quite sometime but the game sort of reminds me of Wreckless- Xbox, the mission based racer for the Xbox. The primary career mode encompasses the exploits of 2 of Germany's finest though there is a Case structure for re-playability and picking up past the 1st stage of a multiple stage Case, a welcome feature giving that I've played too many games that make you start from scratch. There is a race mode where you can set up parameter based race events. These include all of the vehicles in the game including semi tractor trailers. A great value for the price.
