I'm a true crossword addict, and I love the crosswords produced by Merl Reagle. They are quite challenging, but not ridiculously so. I'd equate the difficulty level with the New York Times Tuesday puzzles. His humor makes the puzzles even more outstanding. By far, his puzzles are the best!
