Delightful and Devious Crosswords,
By
This review is from: Merl Reagle's Sunday Crosswords, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
Merl Reagle is one of the most ingenious, devious, and interesting puzzle makers around. He comes up with some of the most bizarre clues and answers -- quite a change of pace from so many crosswords. You do a couple dozen from one paper or another and you start to recognize patterns, word usage, clue trends. Not with Merl: there's always something bizarre, interesting, and funny around the corner.

Merl's the best!,
By Music lover "PJD" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Merl Reagle's Sunday Crosswords, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
I enjoy Merl's crosswords because there is always more than one thing going on, like wordplay themes, which means there is more than one way to solve the puzzle. Too many times puzzles are filled with obscure words and references to films or books or people I've never heard of, and when I get a couple of them crossing each other, there is no hope except to look up the answer. That rarely happens with Merl because if I just think with his weird mind, I can usually deduce a theme answer.
