I hate how Amazon often doesn't list the songs on DVDs like this one, and I really liked this DVD, so...

I have been a merle fan for over 30 years, and with the possible exeption of the bob wills tribute, this is the best recorded live merle I have heard.This "old country singer" edition of the strangers compares favorably with any past editions of this great backup band. Merle's voice seems to sound better than it has for years. The dts 5.1 sound is top notch. This is a must buy for merle fans.

Finally! A great production of the Hag in Concert. The sound quality is riveting as this tight band backs the Hag with the perfection of a NY symphony. I notice a few new faces in this group of Strangers. The new drummer is incredible, I would have liked to see a stronger lead guitar but hey, long time band leader Norm Hamlet has put another great bunch together here. The entrance of the beautiful and talented Janie Fricke singing back-up on a couple numbers was pure bonus. I watch this and all my concerts on a 65" HDTV and this example has risen to the top of my pile. Better lighting would have produced better skin tones, but hey.....we must remnember we are at Live at Billy Bobs, not in a TV studio. The Hag will always be immortal especially with productions like this. Buy this one! You will truly enjoy.

When I bought this ,I assumed it was the video of the Billy Bob's live CD.While this is a good show,the other was one of my favorites of Merle's .He had a great guitar player on the CD,on this video Merle plays guitar.Hag can really sing and write,but as a guitar player he should hire that out.But, back to the subject,this video is great quality,sound and visualy.There are two familiar faces ,Norm on steel and old what's his name on horns.The last time is saw a Hag concert,he had a pickup band,which was great,Merle played guitar quite a bit,but a better picker was playing second guitar.I doubt we will see the great bands he carried back in the eighties.Merle Haggard doesn't have to prove anything to anyone ,he sings as well now as ever ,and still writes goods songs.Buy it,you'll like it.

If your a Merle fan you know what to expect. Pure country music without the smoke & mirrors, swinging from ropes or prancing around the stage. Merle is at his best on this dvd. The bouns footage is a real treat.

Merle can still belt them out. I was suppose see Merle this summer, but his show was canceled. I picked up this DVD as a stand in. I was not dissapointed. A great show offers a great variety of Merles songs.
Make sure you watch the interviews... wow listen to Merle and the strangers talk about things is great. Listening to these legends talk about modern country and politics is insightfull.

This is a great DVD..If you love Merle, you will enjoy this one..He performs 21 songs..I enjoyed them all.

I have seen Merle Haggard, center stage up front, twice. The first time was 1968 in the El Paso County Coliseum. The second time was 30 years later at Floores Country Store in Helotes. For both concerts he and The Strangers were at their peak. I have been a fan all these years. This DVD is a must for any who appreciate Haggard. The audio and video quality are superb. Live music just doesn't get better.

This is the best concert I have ever seen. Other reviewers think it's not as polished as other bands or recordings in the past. But that is what makes it better. There is a feel of old guys playing on the back porch for the neighbors. I prefer the old and seasoned voice of Merle than the younger. These are "old country singers" singing and playing to perfection because they are having fun playing for themselves. Like the critically acclaimed CD "If I could only fly" this DVD is not to be missed.

This is a DVD that we will watch over and over. It's Merle at his best. I love Janie Fricke, but Bonnie Owens' was a much better match for Merle's style. We miss her.
