4.0 out of 5 stars Merlin on the go :)
the picture on the front is a beautiful shot of guinevere... the book is a perfect size to slip into your purse :).

there's little insights into each characters thoughts during certain parts that you don't get to see in the episode... which adds a little more to the story :).

I fell in love with the BBC Merlin television series and when I found out there were books to go along with the series -- I was thrilled! I loved The Poisoned Chalice episode and The Last Dragonlord episode, so those were the two books I purchased.

They were good, I suppose, but I was disappointed that there was very little additional information and the books read basically exactly as the episodes had aired. I had been hoping for a few spectacular additional scenes, better depth to the characters, something to make the read different from the show. I don't feel I got that with the book. I felt like it was simply rehash of the episode with a little of the characters' thoughts thrown in for good measure. I mean, how else could they lump more than one episode into a book like they did for some of them?

I would have enjoyed these books SO much more if there had been real depth, insight, description, additional nuggets of BBC Merlin-esque scenes. Just something to make reading the books worth it. Granted, since I'm a huge fan, I suppose I'll keep reading them anyway, but I'd like them so much more with more to them. I've read fanfiction stories that are far more enjoyable than the book was and those aren't professional writers.

i agree with one part of the previous review of i wish they'd added more to the book adaptation of the episode but this is wonderful for those who want to buy their fave merlin eps and revisit them when their not near a dvd player or tv.

all in all, I'd say this is a pretty good tv-tie in... can't go wrong with purchasing it :) (i wish though that two-ep books were a little thicker though).

definitely worth your money... hopefully BBC will commission more of these *hint hint haha*
