This was an impulse buy that paid off. My first view of the night-light was in a national magazine, pictured in the writer's favorite things. For such a small price, I now have a fine piece of art. When lit, it's even more beautiful than the picture. The light was also delivered speedily and without damage.

I found a young artist named David Delamare back in 1993 and fell in love with ALL his work. I am obsessed with Mermaids so when I discovered these wonderful porcelain night lights with the Mermaids he had originally painted...I happily bought a few. I gave some as gifts but kept this one plus 2 lithophane lamps. They are truly beautiful because the porcelain is thicker in some places and thinner in others. This gives them the quality of a glowing photograph. It is fun knowing they were originally made to be put in front of a candle in the early 1800-1900's.
This is a purchase of something I will keep forever and try and pass down to my children and grandchildren. So, if you love Mermaids, night lights, and the beauty of David Delamare paintings...BUY a few!! I paid well over $10.00 more for mine so you will be getting a good bargain too

These are fragile but they would be perfect in a child's bedroom or child's bathroom if placed high enough.
I am using them in an older person's home to light the hall ways and the bath room at night. I also purchased the "Tropical Moonlight". The light is very gentle to allow non interruption of sleep but yet bright enough to light the way.
They are in themselves a work of art when they are turned on. When they are off, you'd think they weren't as beautiful as they are at night.
The only issue I had with the company I purchased them from was that they charged for each and every item in the total purchase rather then combining shipping (eg. I ordered 2 of the nightlights and paid $3.50+ for each of them to be shipped - in the SAME package).
Otherwise, well worth the purchase.

The picture doesn't do this piece of art justice. I collect mermaids so this one was perfect for me and I'll probably be ordering the other mermaid too!!! Careful while you assemble it though as the porcelain is, well it's porcelain so it's delicate. Make sure to place the light where no one will accidentally come into contact with it. Trust me (this isn't the first one of these that I have owned) >:(
