Another one like it!,

This review is from: Mermaid's Bracelet (Hardcover)
My daughter loves this book and all the notes and letters. She has another one, with notes and a charm bracelet as well, called Little Ballerina, by Sue Harris. Really good as well. My four year olds favorite books!!

Once the last envelope is opened at the end of the story and the bracelet with the bit-too-large circumference is presented, one is not totally compelled to go back to this book for re-reading. Alas, the excitement is semi-history. Keep away from toddlers, and people who loathe fair-haired mermaids (what's the problem with brunette merfolk, anyway?). Did I mention the gorgeous colors in the illustrations? Anyway, go with "The Magic Charm" book series instead. Somehow, they are more magical even though the subjects might be too "everyday" for some people...this may be so because the charms are not directly involved in the prose. Even without the included charms (we got a bunch used sans charms) and small notes that series has more, well, charm. Know I'm makin' waves here, but hey, gotta put the other side out there.

A Treasure!,

My 3-year old granddaughter has lots and lots of great books. But, as soon as she got this one, it became her favorite. She has to look through it each night before going to bed. She loves the little letters that Hannah and Shelly write to each other, and thinks the bracelet is soooo special.
I've looked at other Beth Harwood books but didn't find any others like this. If you know of any other books like this magical one, I'd love to hear about them. We also love the Fancy Nancy books.

Whether your child is a mermaid fanatic like mine or not, she will love this book!!! The book is about a mermaid and a little girl who write letters back and forth to each other. The description did not describe that on each page, there is an envelope with a small letter inside that the child can take out and read. The charm bracelet was a HUGE hit as well! This is an absolutely darling book that any little girl, ages 3 to 10 (or so), will love! I actually am so impressed with it that I plan on buying it for a few nieces and friends.

great for 5 yr old,
This review is from: Mermaid's Bracelet (Hardcover)
My 5 yr old and 3 yr old daughters both really enjoy this book. The story is fairly simple about a little girl making friends with a mermaid while on vacation at the beach, but the format is different and fun with little letters which you pull out of envelopes and read. It is well illustrated as well. It even comes with a little bracelet with a starfish charm on it, although I admit the quality of the bracelet is not high quality and has broken (we fix it by using pliers to put the links back together), but my older daughter does love it. I would definitely recommend the book - we've had it for almost year and it still is one of those that they often enjoy reading.

My daughter has it, and we have bought it as a gift. It has fun "letters" that you pull out of envelopes and read as part of the story. She loves it!
