Hello, if you are interested in all the songs to the soundtrack, here is my list i have:

Mermaids was a great film, and had great music in it, but the soundtrack neglects to include almost all of the best songs: Eydie Gorme's "Blame It On The Bossa Nova", Rosemary Clooney's "Mambo Italiano", Peggy Lee's "Fever", Marvin Gaye's "Stubborn Kind Of Fellow", Jimmy Gilmer & The Fireballs "Sugar Shack", Betty Everettes "The Shoop, Shoop Song" (sure we get Cher's version but it's not the same). Then there are songs that I have only ever seen in this film, and only know lines from in the film as being the titles of these songs: "Let's Walk Some More", who does that I don't know, and "Dominique", which I think was a 1963 hit for the Singing Nun. And the trumpet song that Lou played in his shop when he first met Rachel (Mrs Flax)and the girls.

One reviewer said that this soundtrack brings the film to life through music - have you seen the film? The songs I have mentioned here are the songs that bring it to life, and are the most memorable - but they are not on the soundtrack!

If you have ever seen Mermaids you will be disappointed with this soundtrack. While there are some great songs on it the best songs are missing, which brings down the whole collection. Perhaps the people who compiled this CD should have compiled the soundtrack in two parts like with The Big Chill, in order to include the films most memorable tunes and some all time classics.

One Star - Don't waste you money!

Having searched long and hard for the mermaids soundtrack it was definately worth the wait. despite the fact the most of the songs are only 2 1/2 minutes or so its one of the most addictively fun soundtracks ever!

i highly recommend this whether you've seen the film or not.

How can you not like this soundtrack! The music from the lighthearted comedy starring Cher, Bob Hoskins & Winona Ryder. This album includes songs from the 1960's & no, it's not your conventional Soundtrack CD it just includes songs, not instrumental pieces.
Cher's 'Shoop Shoop song' & 'Baby I'm yours' are fun & crazy.
Recommended.

If you liked the movie 'Mermaids' and you also like the early 60's music, you will surely enjoy this short but very powerful soundtrack. The songs are made to be danced or sung along, and what I really like is the basic 'thoughtless' feeling of the music (someone would say it's just commercial music, but that's in fact the music people like to relax with), which reminds of the comedy style of the movie itself. So it's perfect to be listened to in the morning, to start your day with a smile.

Music from the Mermaids makes me (a woman of a certain age) very nostalgic. Some of the songs from the soundtrack were omitted but most of the good were there. I enjoy every night on my IPOD as I fall asleep and dream of the old days.

I had the cassette tape for so long and finally needed to get the CD as well. Love the version Cher does of "Baby, I'm Yours!" The oldie songs are great too!

It was just as advertised, in good condition and all songs played well.

Great cast ensemble! It takes all kinds to make a good family. This has been a family favorite of ours for years.

This movie has allways ment so much to me and now to be able to listen to the music just brings the movie to life. It dosent matter if you have seen the movie or not, I am sure you will enjoy the sound track.
