This is a very well-made shoe, but the sizing runs very small. I normally wear a men's size 10 medium in shoes if I'm wearing hiking socks. (men's 9.5 for most dress shoes that I wear with thin socks) I ordered these in a 10.5, but even that is on the small side, especially in width with medium thickness hiking socks. They fit a little better with lightweight hiking socks, but even then these are snug with respect to the width. I've been stretching them using a shoe stretcher, and I'm hoping that will work. I think size 11 would have been too long. They are very nice shoes, and they look good, but there doesn't seem to be any simple solution to the size issue.

By way of comparison, I recently bought a pair of Merrell Thermo 6 waterproof men's boots in size 10, and they fit very well with medium thickness hiking socks right out of the box. (I can VERY HIGHLY recommend the Merrell Thermo 6 waterproof boot if you're looking for a warm, comfortable, waterproof hiker that's not too bulky)

Exceeded my expectations. Fantastic in every way except the sole. Only downside is the sole which is too fine collects a lot of debris and rocks that can be tracked indoors.

I have terrible feet. When I find a shoe that is sturdy and comfortable to walk in, I buy it in quantity. For years I had been purchasing Rockports but made the switch to Merrell just to see if there were another shoe out there that my feet would like. Now I am hooked and this particular line of shoes by Merrell is just marvelous. I have walked and hiked with them on 3 continents over pretty rough terrain, yet these shoes can take it. And they are waterproof to boot.
