4.0 out of 5 stars A Handful of dust
A prompt delivery to an overseas APO address. Good fit. Comfortable in the heat. So far standing up to the rough terrain and the dry heat of southern Afghanistan. The dust, however, seems to pentrate the weave and enter the shoe. This is a problem peculiar to this region and should be sorted once I'm home

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoes, Bad Laces
The shoes are extremely comfortable and rugged, but the laces break down and need to be replaced after about a month.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great all around shoe, July 3, 2007
This is my second pair of Merrell Moab Ventilators.
I hike and work out in one pair and wear the other pair to go around town. I even wear them to work a couple of days a week. They are exceptionally comfortable, and support my aching feet. You can't go wrong with this shoe.

Hands down the most comfortable shoe I own.. I wear them to work at times and I feel the support with every step.

I spent nearly two hours at a large shoe store picking the most comfortable shoe and this was my result.. I will never regret those two hours. I even ran in the store to test them and the other shoes!

If it weren't awkward, I'd give them away as gifts.. they're that wonderful.

I'm an avid hiker and they're definitely slip resistant and you just feel like you're riding a marvelous car.

November 2011 update: I still think it's a great shoe for comfort and hiking however, it can definitely get hot in there even without exercise.. the vents are not very efficient

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable, comfortable, great value!, September 6, 2009

I've just about worn out a pair of the non-Gore-tex Moab Ventilators. When I head to the door to hike or walk the dogs, they are the ones I always grab. 5 other pairs of hiking shoes, and these always go out the door with me. Heaven knows how many miles they've got on them. Comfortable heading up the mountain trails. Comfortable coming down with no toe rub or hot spots. I have a wide foot and this last in "wide" just fits. Very durable -- very comfortable.

I just bought another pair and tucked them on the top shelf for when my current pair really do wear out. I hope Merrill keeps making these for a LONG time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent shoe for everyday use, July 23, 2009
The Merrell Moab shoes are very comfortable and durable. My work requires me to stand a lot and walk a lot. I also work occasionally in greenhouses and dirt areas where my shoes get dirty and wet. Additionally, I usually commute by bicycle, so it puts additional pressure on my feet. I can get just about a year of daily use out of them before they are a bit too worn to be comfortable or usable anymore. Every 3 months or so, I change the insoles to maintain padding and foot comfort.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this fits wide feet like mine nicely. I have bought these Merrell shoes year after year, as I'm confident I'll like the look and feel of these shoes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super Comfortable but Soles Outlast Uppers, July 25, 2010
By

I just bought my second pair because they are the coolest and most comfortable shoes that I have ever owned. The suede part of the uppers, however, is easily frayed or torn so that they are best for casual wear and might not hold up well on unimproved hiking trails. See my customer image of my one-year-old shoe next to my new one. Do not be deterred by this slight weakness if you are looking for a cure for hot sweaty feet -- they are terrific for casual wear. I also still have the previous model of this shoe and the uppers are much more durable.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Hiking Shoes, April 27, 2010
I've owned my Merrell Moab Ventilators for about 2 years. They've been very good shoes. I find them very comfortable - good support, light, with good breathability. I originally bought them for walking around Disney World. They supported my feet well and my feet didn't over heat (make sure to also wear good socks, like the Cool-lite from Wigwam). The Moab's also handle the trails that I travel. Getting them wet has not been an issue, as they dry quickly and water doesn't affect the materials. The sole has worn very well and is still has a lot of tread on it. I haven't had to change the laces either. I wear them mostly around town with some light trail and hiking thrown in for fun. I also really like the looks of the shoe.

After two years, it is time to replace them as the cushion and support are failing. The rest of the shoe structure is still in fine shape. I'll probably get a new insole and wear them as my grubby shoes.

I typically wear a 10.5 EEEE and the 11 Medium fit me fine. I've had the shoes for around 6 months now and they're extremely comfortable. They seem to be very durable, as well.

This is my 5th pair of Merrell shoes/boots over a period of 5 years and I've always been happy. I haven't managed to wear out a pair yet!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Fourth Pair-the're that good, December 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the fourth pair of Merrill Ventalator shoes. I have worn through 3 pairs of Merrill's ventalators prior to this, and I'm so happy with the shoe performance, comfort and price I just bought my fourth pair. That ought to say it all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, tough shoe, March 23, 2009
I got these shoes for everyday wear and im surprised at how long they have lasted. even after around 6 months of wear the soles shoe little wear on them. They are quite comfortable as well. The insoles are junk, however, so I would replace them with something better. I also wish they were more water resistant. Would buy again.
