Very comfortable,

These are -no question- the most comfortable boot I"ve ever tried. I've had Raichle, Salomon, Mephisto, Hi-Tec, Danner, Nike and a few others. Recently I've been using a low-cut Salomon but found I need more ankle support. These are a good blend of lightweight and support. I did swap out the insole for a Superfeet insole; that helps make a difference too.

One of the best I've owned,

I am a hiker/backpacker who consistantly abuses boots. I've owned Hi-Tecs, Asolos, and finally the Merrell Sawtooth. I love this boot. I've owned them for nearly a year and have used it in every season and every conceivable Midwest weather configuration; these boots have risen to the challenge. I will admit, I had my doubts initially. These boots took far LONGER to break in than any boot I have ever owned. But once they were broken in, they are incredibly comfortable no matter what mile I am on. I have not encountered the stitching issues or sole issues some other reviewers have had. I would (and I have) recommend this boot to others.

Good boot overall.,

I've worn these boots on week long backpacking trips through Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Big Bend National Parks. They breath relatively well versus a full leather upper boot. The Vibram sole has excellent traction and is high quality. The boot is relatively water resistant, although it does not have a Gore-tex liner but water has never soaked through the boot. I really think Gore-tex liners are unnecessary unless you like to hike in very rainy areas. I've replaced the insoles with Spenco Backpackers for extra support under load. The only problem I've encountered is the rubber toe protection, which is part of the sole, has started to delaminate from the shoe. Great boot overall.

I mow lawns for about 8 months of the year. That's alot of walking with all the weed trimming and edging. These were tough to break in though but one magic day they felt great. I use Spenco's Cross Trainer insoles and wear Thorlo socks but I can honestly say these are the best boots I've owned.

Urban, woods, desert, mountains. This boot can conquer them all. It's tough, durable, and fits like a shoe to me. The soles are so tough, it's insane. I would highly recommend them to anyone who has an interest in the outdoors.

Merrell sawtooth - disappointment,

I bought the boots because I spend a lot of time in the woods. After about six months of use and an especially soggy day one of the swivels broke out of the leather.
Overall the boot did not preform to merrill standards. What good is a tough sole and breathability if you can't keep the thing on because the eyelets for the laces have fallen out? |
