The metal lace gromets will pull out of the boot. need to revise hardware or maybe a bad lot? On the + side it is well insulated and sole grip on snow and ice is very effective.

I've got about 600 miles on these boots from the Appalachian Trail to city pavement. I've had no leaks, no hardware failure and still very comfortable boots. For whatever reason, they needed no break-in period like other boots I've owned. Still going strong.

I had to return these, because the smallest size was still too big for me, and I was BUMMED. I was looking for some really well constructed, full grained, kind of European/Italian style, high quality hiking boots. I ordered 6 different pair from Amazon, some actually made in Italy. These were by far the most beautifuly made. Unlike the other full grain leather boots, these were designed inside for great support and comfort. The others felt like I would need to spend a year breaking them in. The sole was really great too.

I love my new boots. I went for Merrell because I also own a pair of Merrell Intercept GORE-TEX Shoes (which are awesome by the way. Best shoe I ever had) and they are so comfortable and still are even tho the soles are worn thin after years of wearing everyday. However when I first got the boots I noticed they were not soft and squishy like my sneakers but rather hard and ridged but they are leather boots after all so they needed breaking in. At first because they are quite narrow I was getting a cramp like sensation in one foot when sitting down with them on but after a few days the leather had yielded to my foot and the two became one in a Blessed union of feet and boots. I have not taken them offroad yet but they have pounded the pavement a bit. I love wearing them at home even. They are a strong, sturdy, comfortable boot that make you feel like a commando or something but sexy and stylish to wear out and about. You know you wanna... I've read some reviews where the top lace gussets pulled out but they seem good to me. I think you'd have to pull the laces really tight to do that and it's not necessary to do them tight. They are tramping boots not ice hockey skates.

Hello all, this review is an easy one because the product is from a long time known quality company. Like any merrell products when you inspect it, you have undoubtedly noticed the superior craftsmanship, and finish on these boots. They are very rugged and traction oriented. These are outstanding on the trail, very comfy and dry. they do have a little weight to them, but I'm sure it's needed in the rugged construction of the heavy leather and rubber-ish sole, and metal lace eyes. The only reason it didn't receive 5 stars is because the tongue is not fully gusseted and only leather on the top half outside, the lower part is nylon (where the gussets are). The boots do have a leather protection flap covering the tongue from splashes and screet that could get in around the laces. All in all, I'm very happy with these trail boots, it meets my needs sufficiently. I recommend these to anyone who needs a good hiking boot, so long as you stay out of water puddles deeper than 3", thats about all the higher the gussets go. I used them in winter and were fine with warmth. I always wear liner socks under my wool socks, and these were warm and dry, not even sweaty feet, so I believe they do what they're supposed to. by the way I did purchase the green superfeet(as always) at the same time I purchased the boots, so they were in before my first outing and are the bomb....for happy feet. Hope this helps somebody. thanks for reading my review.

I purchased these for my son and he loves them. He lives North and they have had a great deal of cold weather this year and he has put the shoes to the test. They have up held all he was expecting. Well made, look good, comfortable, fit well, best purchase price, great product.

My husband loves these boots. We had to send back our original pair because they run about one size too big, but once we got the correct size they were perfect. Great in the snow.

I hate these boots! They're too narrow, don't breath, and are very hard on the heels of the feet. For the last 20 years I have used nothing but Timberland boots for backpacking (I'm a Scoutmaster and High Adventure Team member). I am a seriously hardcore, wilderness backpacker. These boots are the most uncomfortable boots I have ever used. Period.
I switched back to Timberland. I do not recommend Merrell boots. Buy Timberland. |
